He says it can happen this year before the Feb 7 trade deadline.
That would be great. Kuzma, Ingram, Ball, KCP and 2019 1st for AD. New line up:

PF-James/Wagner/Williams
SF-Hart/Beasley
C-Davis/McGee/Chandler
PG-Rondo/Caruso/Bonga
SG-Svi/Lance

PF - Davis, Beasley
SF - James
C - McGee Chandler
PG - Rondo
SG - Hart/Svi
Worst three point shooting starting 5 of all time right there though.

Lol at getting AD without giving up even one of Kuzma, Ball, Ingram. It will take minimum 2.

if you read properly, I have Brandon Ingram in that trade. it also has 2 1st rd picks + wagner

Yeah, i missed that. But it's still not enough. Celtics have 4 first rounders this year plus as many future picks as the Lakers want to offer, so the picks thing is moot.

This is gonna end with Lakers and Celtics played against each other. Pels will either get Tatum or 2 of Kuz/BI/Lonzo.

lol so u are saying tatum is worth 2 of Kuz/BI/Lonzo? i disagree

It's not about equivalency. He's a more highly regarded prospect. Hetween he, Lonzo, BI and Kuz, he has the most star potential, and that's something sorely needed in NO. The Lakers have to offer two of Lonzo/BI/Kuz to trump it.

LOL, once the Lakers tell the Pels that they didn't have to give up picks to get Kareem or Shaq, what choice will they have but to give him to us for whatever we feel like offering?

Much ado about nothing, Davis hasn’t asked to be traded and the Pelicans are still looking to get more help for him. Oubre would have been a nice pick up for them.

We traded

Jerry Chambers 8.3 career PPG
Archie Clark 16.3
Darrall Imhoff 7.2 and 7 rebounds

No picks for Chamberlain

We traded

Junior Bridgeman 13.6 career PPG
Dave Meyers 11.2
Elmore Smith 13.4 PPG 10.6 RPG
Brian Winters 16.2

No picks for Kareem

We signed Shaq for free

The closest thing to trading our core... is probably the Kareem trade

But even then... I think our core is better than that group.

So we are talking about trading more assets for AD than we gave up for Kareem, Wilt, or Pau... and we got Shaq for free.

Milwaukee improved 28 games the year Kareem joined them.

The Pelicans record barely changed when AD joined them.

Yet we are considering trading more pieces away than for Kareem?

In what universe is AD more valuable than Kareem?

I'm down with those two of the core for AD trades... but no way do they accept it.

So you all have to ask yourself... do you want to give up more for AD than we did for all of our hall of fame centers?

I say no way is he worth it.

Wait, and sign him later.

Lebron will be turning 36 in 2020, so you have to go all in on this short window. We can't wait to sign him. Plan A is to sign a megastar this coming Summer 2019. If that fails, you have to try to get AD by trading the core. There's no other scenario where we can compete for titles in the next couple of years without landing a megastar.

Who knows if LBJ is ever the same after even this groin injury?

He probably will be fine... but it could also be the beginning of the end.

We all agree with plan A... that should be the plan.

Some want to roll the dice with those two years... I get their position and respectfully disagree.

I'd rather let LBJ's window expire and focus on signing AD or Giannis in two years and build with them and the core.

Sadly Klutch will probably end up running the show... and we'll all have to live with that.

I only listed those assets so people would see how much an overpay some are thinking of making to accommodate LBJ.

Yes, and that is partially why he would fit in NO, if Davis does ask out they will already be creating a core of young players.

If we do trade 3 of the young core, it will certainly hurt us rotation wise. I don't think LBJ/AD is enough to take down the Warriors this year.

But with a good amount of cap space (not sure the number, but we would be in the 20m+ range or slight higher), we could fill out the team around 2 top 5 players. But it would require a lot of luck to fill out the team though we would be a top 3 team in 2019-20.

AD is costly (worth it to me). But if we don't get him I still think we can be championship caliber (if the Warriors lose one of KD/Klay, notably KD).

If we did make a trade for AD and if Lonzo went to the Pelicans, we would probably be able to get Payton back from them. He would be a necessary get, and since he's only making $3MM, it shouldn't be hard to include him in the deal.

If AD is traded this year, almost every team in the NBA will make an offer. There is limited risk as that team could trade him next year if they think he is going to leave.

I could see the Suns making a move for AD now or even the 76ers offering say Simmons for AD.

do you guys think Davis would let us lowball the Pelicans if it came down to him still being there at next seasons deadline, and Rich Paul telling other teams to not give up assets because AD wont re-sign there? if we offer some smaller package than they expect, he might feel like we are using his promise to us to force the team he probably wants to part with on good terms, into a bad deal for them. in an eventual trade next season (after we already added another max), i would want to keep Zo, Kuz, Bonga and one of Svi/Hart. so my offer would be along the lines of Ingram, Zubac, Hart/Svi, Wagner and how much ever 1st rounders it takes. considering he will leave few months after that anyway, they might feel like its better to take something than nothing, but Davis' will would be decisive in such scenario

Beal living up to that Ray Allen moniker. He might single handedly elevate the Wizards into the playoffs on his back. Beal as your best player won't win you a title, same as Allen, but as your clear number 2 or 3 in a big 3 is his best suited role going forward on a title team.

He would be a fantastic #3 imo. Not quite good enough as a #2, although a team with LeBron and Beal and a ton of depth would be formidable.

I appreciate all the ESPN and other media outlets heavily pushing for Davis to go to the Lakers. But speaking it into existence is probably not going to work here.

I doubt AD will only put the Lakers as his preferred trade destination. And I doubt we trade for Beal or whoever to improve a summer trade offer for him. If neither happens. We don't get him.

It's pretty much best for the Lakers to work on a recruiting video package or whatever to get Kawhi to come. If he doesn't? Forget about LBJ and his pursuit of a title. Magic must forget whatever he promised him for the better of the team. Simply resign Ingram to a REASONABLE deal and sign an AD or a different superstar in 2020. Just ride with that superstar and hopefully 2/3 of our top picks become stars and Hart improves as well. Do NOT do some dumb (bleep) like overpay for Khris Middleton to try to give Lebron a "shot" and (bleep) over the future.

Outside of Lebron, we do not get to dictate what NO gets for AD.

I would trade Ingram and KCP for Beal if and only if we have no chance at FAs or the asking price for AD is too much.

I really hope this front office doesn't contemplate giving up the entire youth for davis.. That is a horrible move to trust those two with next to no depth when lebron is not getting any younger and davis constantly has new injuries even though he does play through most that is a scary duo to throw away your entire future for imo.. for the right deal it is obviously a no brainer but it's not worth "whatever they want" at all.

unless some great trade comes along im all for just waiting it out and see how lebron and the rest of the team handles this season and how free agency goes. It's a gamble but a worthy one considering how good and deep this team could be next year if a few things went our way and then our future is still bright as well.

Just saying that what you want is irrelevant.

NO will decide what they want from us, if they are open to trading him to us st all which I highly doubt.

The Los Angeles Lakers are widely expected to pursue Klay Thompson in 2019, and the Golden State Warriors shooter’s dad, Mychal Thompson, believes his son will be a better fit next to LeBron James than Kawhi Leonard.

Thompson is under contract through the 2018-19 season and will become an unrestricted free agent in
the summer of 2019. Mychal was recently a guest on the “Mason and Ireland” podcast and said Klay wouldn’t have a problem playing second fiddle to James because he has been doing it in Golden State for the past few seasons.
