Military exercises rattling nerves around LA

Army helicopters landing on Wilshire Boulevard and other military activities are turning parts of Los Angeles into scenes from a war movie this week.

The military is conducting training exercises, but they have caught many locals by surprise.

When a helicopter flew low in between buildings in downtown Los Angeles, it raised a few alarms.

. . .

According to the LAPD it's all part of a U.S. Army training exercise to teach soldiers skills and how to operate in an urban environment.

There were some more drills in Long Beach tonight. The news says it is a week long urban readiness training that will run through Friday.

I just wonder what they're training for that a) is similar to downtown LA and b) requires stealth flying and fast insertion and/or extraction of a small number of soldiers. Is it a rescue or an assault?

Army special forces. They train for every environment. They have been doing this type of training for years.

It’s most likely a rescue and assault type of training. It’s how it usually goes.
