When Lonzo & Ingram share the floor the Lakers have a defensive rating of 101.4..the Bucks with the number one defense are at 103.8.

New season, let's bring back the thread from the abyss...

After two games :

OFFRTG : 102.1 (20th)
DEFRTG : 103.1 (15th)
NETRTG : -1.1 (17th)
PACE : 96.25 (is this the 90's ???)

Numbers don't mean a lot right now because very few games have been played, but it should be interesting to see how we progress (or regress) offensively and defensively...

My feeling after two games is that we'll be an average (maybe good if we learn how to use AD) offensive team, and a very good (Top 10, maybe Top 5) defensive team. Of course that's just a feeling, too soon to tell what's this team is really made of, and we'll see how Kuz and Rondo fit in...

Reminder of last season :

OFFRTG : 107.4 (24th)
DEFRTG : 108.9 (13th)
NETRTG : -1.6 (22nd)
PACE : 103.6 (4th)

Good thread. It’s still early and a soft schedule but will be interesting to see the numbers late December/early January.

We are the slowest team in the NBA.. not surprising but what a change from the last few years where it was the Kentucky derby.

A pace that allows LeBron to play more minutes and conserve energy? Who would have thunk it?

Would like to see them play a little faster. If they get the reputation of being a "slow" team it'll just cause every team they play to run the ball down their throats as much as possible, which would exacerbate the problem.

*Through three games the Lakers have allowed 99.7 pts per game (3rd best in the NBA).
The defense has pressured the ball, forced turnovers and limited 3-pointers.

*The Lakers are averaging 8.0 blocks per game (#1 in the NBA).
The rim protection, particularly by AD and Howard, is arguably the best in the league.

Is the 3rd best defense adjusted for pace? 99 pts is good but not if we are playing at 90s pace.

No, it isn’t. We’re 11th in DRtg.

Once the stats normalize I expect us to be top 5 defensively.

Ahh yeah. I just saw we are nearly dead last in pace.

11th is still decent. I’ll take that.

Even after an 0-2 Start the Lakers are actually doing some things right:

They are:

#1 in Fast Break Points per game
#2 in Points in the Paint per game
#2 in percentage of ponts from 2 pointers
#3 in Blocks per game with Javale Mcgee #1 overall
#4 in Fast Break Efficiency
#5 in 3rd Qtr Points
#6 in Steals per game with Josh Hart #2 overall
#8 in Assists per game with Rondo #1 overall
#8 Scoring - Points per game

The Lakers had 7 players score in double figures against the Rockets, the most by any team since 2006.

can we get these stats again?

Winning a game by 29 while shooting 27% (7-26) from 3.
How often would our team the last 2+ years be able to do that?

4 games

OFFRTG : 107.9 (10)
DEFRTG : 96.8 (4)
NETRTG : +11.1 (1)
PACE : 101 (27)

1st in NETRTG, but in 4 games we played Charlotte and Memphis, not exactly powerhouses in the NBA. Anyway our schedule is easy until December, so we'll have to win a lot of games. We could be 15-4 by the end of november. If we can do that and keep Davis and James around 33 min/game, it's all good...

Thanks.
Wow. Haven't had a win while shooting 27% or less on 3s since 2007. And then no other win until you go back to 98.

Great numbers. Hopefully beating up on the weaker competition gives us some confidence and gives is leeway to gel. I would like our guards to start hitting their 3s.

We're looking good fam! Small sample size and well we haven't played powerhouses outside of the Clippers but I'll take it.
