The goal should be getting Denver in the first round of the playoffs.
Whether Denver is a 2 seed or 3 seed.
I like our chances against them as opposed to GS and OKC.

We never win in Denver. I would take my chances against the Warriors. We already beat them once in their gym. Stay in California limited travel. Just go for it with nothing to lose.

I disagree....if healthy, I think we would bust Denver's ass....in 6-7 games.

Would like to avoid GS for at least a rd but so be it. Just make the playoff and we’ll see the true value of our youngsters.

Young team. First time in playoffs for pretty much the whole Denver roster (as opposed to GS and OKC). And I'm pretty sure a stapler could defend the pick and roll better than Jokic.
Late in games and during important moments. Pick and roll offense/defense makes the difference in the playoffs. Especially for Lebron teams.

Young Laker Players don't really care what Bron is talking about or trying to do. They're doing their own thing because of how They were treated.

Honestly I don't care who we play I just want to get in. Our young players need playoff experience.

I really hate the Warriors system being held up on a pedestal. I remember during their 73-9 season, Draymond Green was shooting 40% from 3. Like every single person on their team was a knock down shooter. So sure, flip the ball round the perimeter and whoever feels like taking a shot can take a shot, everyone is lethal shooting wise anyway.

Then you have a team like the Lakers who don't have many knockdown shooter. "We should implement the Warriors system" - (bleep) off!

The Warriors system is ball and player movement, pass up a decent shot for a better shot. Not Rondo pounding the ball for 12 seconds. When we are moving and moving the ball, our offense looks good. The players we have don’t fit the system.

For our organization. A chip is always the goal, technically. But I'll take playoff success (making it to the 2nd/3rd round) as a consolation prize. And a favorable 1st round matchup could go a long way to making that happen.

Lakers don’t look serious about making the playoffs, to bad we have a low chance to get Zion.

The Lakers would have to win 23 of the last 26 games, to finish with a 52-30 record.

The 8th seed last year won at least 47 games

So the Lakers need to go 23-3 across their next 26 games for 52 wins

Or the Lakers need to go 19-7 across their next 26 to win 47 games

Any less than either of those things, and we may miss the playoffs, yet again.

Last Games Across the season(potential losses bolded):
Hawks
Rockets
Pelicans
Grizzlies
Pelicans
Bucks
Suns
Clippers
Nuggets
Celtics (depends if Kyrie is back)
Bulls
Raptors
Pistons
Knicks
Bucks
Nets
Kings
Wizards
Jazz
Hornets
Pelicans
Thunder
Warriors
Clippers
Jazz
Blazers

So those are 6 hard games(7 depending), and if we lost those, we'd have to win virtually every other game to finish with 48 wins. So we can't afford to "not show up" against a 'lesser' team.

I would bold the Jazz, Blazers, Nets, and Bucks. Those are potential losses too but I reckon we will win a couple of those that are bolded. But we will probably lose so some scrub team. If we can get to 45 wins i think we get in.

Clippers will still fall out - The loss of talent is too much. I'm also wondering about the Spurs, but we'll have to see.

Kings next 6 games

Nuggets
Warriors(I can see the Warriors just letting them win to F us over)
Thunder
Timberwolves
Bucks
Clippers

I can see them going 2-4

Clippers next 6 games

Timberwolves
Suns
Grizzlies
Nuggets
Mavericks
Jazz

I can see them going 3-3

Our next 6 games

Hawks
Rockets
Pelicans
Grizzlies
Pelicans
Bucks

I see a sure loss with the Bucks game. A most likely loss in the Rockets game.

It's absolutely a must that we go 4-2 in this stretch at worst.

I’m the most optimistic fan on this board.

We don’t deserve it.

The league doesn’t deserve the ratings and revenue we would provide in the playoffs - everyone tuning in to see a hero fall on his face. And we don’t deserve to even call ourselves a team right now. We are selfish, lazy, self centered fans, and the Lakers players reflect the fanbase.

The coach wants out, and it shows. The Front Office is a celebrity entity (that’s not the job, btw). And we are isolated in our arrogant bubble. I don’t even care about being a laughing stock - I care about playing the game the right way.

You know... my dad was just talking with me about John Wooden. How he would never play freshmen as much as he would the ones that knew how to play the right way; in the Wooden system. He would sit their ass down and force them to watch the upper class men. Force them to learn by sight and silence and absorb the coach’s expectations on each role at each position.

This is my last post here in LG. I will now be a lurker, and feel the same joys and pains as the rest of Lakernation as we are led by the vision of ownership. It’s not about superstars or name recognition. It’s not about algorithm, cap space, or tanking for draft position. It’s not about Snapchat, IG, or how others outside our family look at us. It’s about team effort and structure, team goals and roles, it’s about the present... always about the present. It’s always about right now.

If you tell me, we just don’t have the talent, I call BS. At this level, a team - a real team with real structure and focus, with the right on court leadership and game plan, can be championship caliber.

I believe in you, Lakernation. Never forget who we are.

The "Dwight-mare" Lakers had longer odds to make the playoffs, but it might have just been better if they didn't. The Spurs just embarrassed them...ran up the score as much as they could, because they were tired of hearing the hype all season. You will see the same thing with GS, unless the Lakers can possibly avoid them, and face Denver or OKC.

I'm not even worried. We'll make the playoffs. Now if we lose to another scrub team then maybe ill start panicking,

Looking at the Kings and Clippers schedule, they'll probably win around 40-43 games. So if we can take care of business and beat teams that were suppose to beat then we will be fine. I think we will get 7th seed cause Spurs schedule tough too.

Then we will take out Denver and OKC in the 2nd round and then match up with GS.
