GT – with this podcast in mind, would you be in favor of sitting lebron for the rest of the year and tanking?

Since New Orleans got a memo from the league about not doing that with Davis, could Magic get away with doing that with LeBron?

No, I don't think that goes over well for a number of reasons.

Not enough Rondo stans for it to be a thing.

Hey GT I heard one of the recent locked on lakers pods. I completely agree - I think Luke has been trolling the past few weeks

Things he says & does lately just seems like he’s mailing it in. He has flaws but he has been pretty fiery or passionate about certain teams or losses in the past few years (like postgame quotes) & that seems to be gone.

As always GT, great stuff.

Interesting part to me was the brief talk of Randle. How do you think he would have played with LJ? I think it was a huge mistake to let him walk...

Hi GT, I am surprised with everything you have discussed in the podcast and in the end you still think Luke deserves to be fired. The roster is flawed but we were still a playoff team until the injury issues kicked in. Then there was distraction from the trade rumours and then the veteran has mentally checked out. I don’t think these things were fixable just by coaching. More importantly, we don’t need to bring back these troublesome veterans. If we get rid of them and with the new free agents signing, do you not think we can have a fresh start and Luke can make this team competitive again? Thanks

From a basketball standpoint I have no issue at all with Luke being the coach. He did very well defensively. On the offensive side you could argue about things, but I still like the fact that he is more about teaching basketball than running a certain system over and over again. That's probably why we could compete so well with e.g. the Rockets. The problem is though - you need continuity and time for this which he just didn't have.

Now the issue I have with him is how he handled the group of players and egos. I think he did acceptable last season, but it just didn't work with the strong headed veterans we got this season.
BUT how many coaches are there that could have handled the situation better than him? Would've x's and o's really helped that? I don't think so. Some more experience maybe. It would've helped to have a front office to step in and tell those players that they get payed to play basketball and play as hard as they can. Otherwise - your asses are on the line. Help your coach instead of making him the scapegoat.

So firing Luke Walton won't fix anything at all, especially if we can't get some god to coach. It will only break more and destroy trust, continuity and culture even more. No other coach will have an environment to succeed if Luke is fired now.

Excellent breakdown on Mo Wagner GT. He has a lot of room for improvement, but each of his shortcomings look fixable with coaching, drills and some weight room time. He's quicker on his feet on the perimeter than I expected.

Hi GT. Last night when changing TV channels, I came across the end of a sports report with Jim Hill and a coach. They were looking at a college basketball game and commenting how very good a team's offensive system is. I think it was Purdue? This team ran pick and roll, and had CONSTANT movement. It was beautiful to watch! I don't know if this team keeps it up the entire game, but I suspect they do. Anyway, too bad Lakers run a bad "system". Have a good weekend!

Jim and Henry Bibby were the guys on CBS. They noted how well Purdue player movements were "ahead of the ball", as well-rehearsed as any in doing reads of what the defense was giving them. "Synchronized" passers and cutters don't wait for a pass to move, they're underway already doing what they know to do next, Bibby said. Purdue is loaded with accurate jump shooters throughout the floor, which sure doesn't hurt the passer when he's looking for reads and keys for his next action.

I think that judgement of system efficacy by what is seen in Purdue's work in an application to the Laker club this year is a little misguided. We didn't have the shooters that Purdue did, and worse, we had so many guys in their first season together, many with progress thwarted towards experience together busted up mid-season by injury. Purdue is a seasoned college team, with many guys in their third year together; familiarity breeds better chance for success.
