Having Lakers credentials should be a negative at this point. Can we look for a Sean Marks or Michael Zarren or something? Who else are up and comers?

Can't do it. 1 and the only requirement is : they need to know what it means to be a Laker

Sigh
this shows me you guys have no idea what you're talking about in regards to winning rings and a winning franchise.

all this about fire this guy and that guy. and why do the lakers always want to hire someone that was a laker or part of the the lakers...go get someone from the outside.

But you same people would've jumped at hiring 100 year old jerry west. who by the way was a laker player first. by you guys logic we never should've hired jerry. we shouldve hired someone from outside.

makes no sense. you hire people who understand winning. We hired phil because he understood winning. we hired luke because he understood winning from the lakers standpoint and also from the warriors standpoint.

remember when we hired from the outside? mda and mikebrown. both outsiders. still didnt mean we won a thing. because you can't win without the roster and you can't win even when you have the players if they are always hurt.

Now we're asking for front office people that have no winning resume whatsoever.

SAS is magic's mouthpiece. Looks like he is gone
no he's not. could it be possible that they dont like rob because he was an agent? could it be true the non previous agent GM's dont like the fact more and more Ex-Agents are becoming GMs? that is possible. someone in the comment section said that theory cant work because the warriors current GM is also an Ex Agent. As if the warriors have made a bunch of trades since they've been a super team. they havent. they've drafted and signed KD. and then signed DC as a free agent. They havent wheeled and dealed with a team since they got Iggy. that was pre winning like this.

It was a one year plan until it didn’t work out last summer. Moving those goal posts.

When Dlo was traded for space, it was a two year plan. When George said no thanks, year one got moved around a little to compensate.

please keep in mind that other teams always hated doing business with the lakers. this is nothing new.. the difference is we had smart GM's, VP's and Ownership that were able to make key moves to keep us in contention.

We still have a hungry ownership who wants to win even though she is a little on the ditz side. we still have a competent GM who understands the inner working of players. PROBLEM IS WE HAVE A GRADE A (bleep) MORON FOR A VICE PRESIDENT WHO THINKS HE IS GOD'S GIFT TO THE LAKERS AND DOESNT KNOW A (bleep) THING ABOUT BASKETBALL IN 2019. HE FAILED AT COACHING, FAILED AT HIS TALK SHOW AND NOW HE IS FAILING AS A VP. He is single handedly the worse decision Jeanie buss has made. Unless magic can go into a time machine and bring back 1985 magic Johnson and lace up those sneakers at start for us than he is useful. other than that he is dumb piece of (bleep) that needs to go

Another victim of impatient fans ire, along with KCP, Rondo, and others.

You know VLF, let’s give this Rob guy a chance. I think he could at least construct a team (with the help of Rich Paul) good enough to compete for an NBA title.

Not to mention Rob is pretty hands on. Kinda a lowkey development coach. He's on the court with the players with his Kobes on! Not in an annoying way, just trying to contribute.

Dude loves basketball and it shows. I can see why he was possibly feeling a bit unfulfilled as a super agent.

He won't get a single vote for Executive of the Year because of the hatred for Rob personally and for the Lakers in general.

Quote:
Among the voting constituents sampled, there seemed to be little support for the candidacy of Lakers GM Rob Pelinka, who helped a massive turnaround to vault the team into the top seed in the West. In back-to-back years, Pelinka landed top-10 players in James and then Davis. He cleared out cap space and pivoted fast to get key supporting players such as Danny Green and Avery Bradley after holding out for days waiting to see whether Leonard would sign with the Lakers. And he helped hold the team together after the tragic death of Kobe Bryant, who was one of Pelinka's closest friends.

But some of his peers, many of whom had a history of dealing with Pelinka as an agent, seem to not want to give him much credit. Some cited the role of Rich Paul, the agent for James and Davis, in putting the team together. Others pointed to the Lakers being accused of and fined for tampering in recent years.

This year doesn’t count...asterisk NBA championship because the Clippers didn’t win.
