Dunno if Kool Gayle had 300lb security guards waiting in the wings or not but she was unflappable. When Kelly jumped up she didn't flinch. Oprah will be proud.

he didnt try intimidation. anyone saying that either doesnt know black people so they dont know that black folks can be very animated when they speak. thats a cultural thing(not all, but a lot of black folks are very animated when they speak especially if they're excited for better/or worse about something going on with their life. )

the man is about to go to jail most likely for a long time. if you didnt do it(playing devil's advocate) you could go quietly or you could go kicking and screaming. he has chosen kicking and screaming. unlike cosby who didnt say much he's like at worse i'm going to say what i feel before yall close the bars down on me. you can't be mad at that. now back to reality, he is guilty. not because of that documentary but because we have receipts on him with Aaliyah(marriage certificate when she was clearly underage). that alone was wrong. you throw in the p - tape and thats more than enough. so assuming he's guilty and he know he did it. he still better put on a show or perhaps he's just as afraid as anyone else. who wants to go to jail? not even bad guys WANT to go to jail.

she didnt flinch because she was not afraid of him because he wasnt coming at her. he was just standing up moving around crying and loud talking. this idea that he was lunging at her is false. didnt happen. this idea that he was trying to intimate her is completely false. why is it that we always have to add extras just to say we dont like someone or we think they are a bad person or are guilty. can they just be guilty without all the extras added in? sheesh

My post didn't imply any of your insertions. It simply said Gayle didn't flinch. As another poster put it she was Kobeesque

you get the idea that i'm contrarian because i dont run with the pack ever. if i agree with you just so happens i agree with you and the pack. i never just run with the pack. so it will always SEEM as if i'm contrarian. because i will not be with the group think. now back to what i said. I was not on you as much as i was on this narrative that actually has been in the media and others were asking gayle after the interview "oh my gosh gayle, were you afraid for your safety?"

Gayle could only be kobe-esk if you thought he was coming at her. you can't have one without the other. Matt barnes faking like he was going to throw the ball at kobe's face. If matt faked like he was throwing the ball to a teammate and not at kobe's face. kobe standing their stone faced would not have made any difference in any of our minds. thats what gayle was doing. Kelly wasnt lunging or angling towards her like that. he was just wilding out trying to convince us or a possible jury that he isnt guilty or he is beyond crazy and he really believes the things he has done wasnt wrong. either way it was him acting in that manner but never towards her was my point. which is why she would never need to be kobe-esk.

you beat me to it.
I would like to ask any practicing catholics. does the shoe fit? and if so, should the catholic church wear it?

personally if i were them. I wouldnt say a darn thing in response to be clowned about all of that abuse we let slide all over the world. and not just let slide, moved guys around to other countries and other places where the abuse would surely continue. I would keep my mouth shut if I were them and if they are really trying to change things for the better(which i heard they are.) I would shut up and just do better and show myself as worthy of respect again. There is something about large establishments, corporations, Big time people, Huge religions, etc. When they are called out for something they just can't take it even when the best position would be to do just that. shut up and take it. its not like its actually inaccurate.

Molinaro said the judges overturned the initial ruling with a 22-page reasoning, claiming that the woman's account of the incident was not reliable as the men "didn't find her attractive, she was too masculine."

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/R-Kelly-Arrested-on-Federal-Sex-Crime-Charges-512618121.html

Quote:
Singer R. Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on federal sex crime charges, according two law enforcement sources.

The 52-year-old was arrested by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigators on sex trafficking charges, officials tell News 4, and it is expected he will be brought to New York.

Further details on the case are expected to be announced Friday.

The R&B star has been the subject of different sexual abuse allegations for nearly two decades, with some of the alleged acts dating back to 1998.

Back in February, Kelly was charged with aggravated sexual abuse involving four women, three of whom were minors when the alleged abuse occurred. He pleaded not guilty.

A jury in 2008 acquitted Kelly of child pornography charges stemming from a video showing him having sex with a girl as young as 13, prosecutors claimed at the time. Kelly faced 15 years in prison for that charge, but the young woman in that claim denied it was her and did not testify.

^^^^ I'm not a R Kelly fan so don't misunderstand me. The man is sick. He needs help. What he did is unconscionable but that doesn't eradicate the illness. There's no cure for pedophilia, there are treatments. Medication and one I think many here would opt he have, castration.

I wasn’t sure how that trial was going to turn out. The defense did an impressive job. They had witnesses contradicting portions of the accusers’ stories. You can’t accurately predict the outcome of a trial based on media accounts, but I was wondering whether the SOB might walk. Guess not.

He's walking from the courtroom to a cell. Guess his walker didn't garner the sympathy he expected.

He'll probably appeal. He'll do it wearing a orange jump suit.

Not that I know of. He might have some legal argument or argument about the admission or exclusion of evidence. I can’t tell from the media reports. But if the jury believed he was guilty of three counts beyond a reasonable doubt, he won’t get a reversal based on the evidence. The jury obviously believed some of the accusers, even if some of the jurors may have had a reasonable doubt about some of the others (apparently including Sciorra). That’s okay. These cases are hard for the prosecution. Getting the SOB on three counts is sufficient. Now he stands trial in LA.

Yes, a criminal case in LA plus a number of civil cases.

By the way, I said he was convicted on three counts. It was two. As I understand it, the minimum sentence is five years. I’ll predict that he gets at least ten, probably more.

I thought had been an issue with the jury where a couple of them had conflicts of interests after they had been selected (I remember something about one of them writing a book about sexual assault).

I didn't remember that incident, so I looked it up. It's really hard to evaluate this sort of issue from media accounts. From what I can tell, it doesn't look like a very strong argument. The issue with the book came up during jury selection. The defense argued that the juror described it on her website as a book about "predatory older men" and claimed that the juror lied about it during jury selection. The Daily Mail quoted the full description today: "The 52-year-old wrote Age of Consent, which will be out this summer and is about 'three young women in the 1980s, who negotiate fraught friendships, sexuality, class, and predatory older men on the journey from innocence to independence.'" I don't think that's enough to exclude a juror for cause. Again, however, this is hard to evaluate from media accounts.

The defense later complained about a book review that she wrote. The book was apparently about a predatory relationship of some sort. I don't see how that would be a ground for excusing her.

The juror may very well have been someone who would tend to sympathize with the victims. By itself, that is not a problem from the perspective of the law. The question is whether she is someone who could not listen to the evidence and be fair to Weinstein. If so, the court strikes the juror for cause. Otherwise, both sides get to strike a certain number of jurors who they think will be unfavorable to them. I do it all the time. In this case, the defense ran out of strikes.

Here is the Daily Mail account, if you are interested:
