He is a shooter, we need shooters. Yes he's frustrating to watch but he also can get hot from the perimeter when he's focused. Beggars can't be choosers bring back KCP at a decent price. |

not just that. but if you watch him, he also plays defense well, and he does all the right things more so than most of the players on the team especially Lebron.
Solid player all around and we are just hating every time he bricks a three.
And this is all on this trainwreck of a team. Just wait until things stabilize and he gets into the rhythm. He won't be Curry, but he will be totally fine. He can be better than Dfish was for us if the team stabilizes. |
So you forgot the contested long 3 points attempt while there was 23 seconds left on the shot clock? Oh and the inbound turnover that costs us the game vs the Bucks. I agree that he plays better defense than most shooters but he is so inconsistent at shooting that I would actually prefer a consistent 3 points shooter with less defebse |

Why are we beggars? Why can't we identify and sign good players? |

Some interesting numbers i came across.
KCP in two seasons here:
12 ppg, 4 reb, 1.7 apg, 1.1 spg, 36% 3pt
A frequent (if not the most frequent) mention of Least Favorite Laker Ever, his two seasons here:
11 ppg, 2.9, reb, 3.2 apg, 1.6 spg 36% 3pt
Can you guess who he is? BTW, he made the league minimum his two seasons here, or 1/20th of what we paid KCP. |
You are mad at his stats?? So ANYONE with these numbers would be the worst??
What numbers SHOULD he get in order to satisfy everyone?
Such a KCP lynch mob going on . |
I'll bring a step ladder next time so the point doesn't go so far over your head.
Purpose of the comparison was to show how his numbers lined up with Smush, who everyone hated and is considered around here to be the biggest punchline of all time. Yet, he was making the league minimum. KCP is the second highest paid guy on the team and doesn't get nearly the hate. |
Smush was from like 2005 man. Kobe was making like $14 mill in 2005. You are comparing numbers from different eras, and coming up with ridiculous conclusions. Sorry, but you are the one being ridiculous.
So lebron makes at least twice as much as KCP, and shoots worse than he does. What about that?
Also, I believe Smush's best years statistically came playing with Kobe. Doesn't seem to be the case for Lebron.
Please bring more step ladders and educate me more. |
Not sure what good it will do if you're not reading what i wrote. Smush was the 14th highest paid player on that team. KCP was our 2nd highest. The 12 million he made this year was not 500k in 2005 dollars.
Given your satisfaction with KCP this year, i can only infer that you think 2005 Smush Parker would've been worth 12 million this year. |

Because that’s what we are at this point, KCP has been here 2 years straight. Knows the organization and he’s tight with Lebron in addition to being a 2 way player. Yes he struggled earlier in the season but we can maintain continuity by bringing him back at a decent price. Let’s not act like Hart hasn’t been disappointing as well. |

What is a "decent" price?
B/c to me it's a vet's minimum.
We need a backup PG and starting center more than a guy who disappears when we need him, and reappears when we don't need him. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Well KCP made 3 or 4 times more money the last few years than the Lakers are willing to pay him for next season, that's why.
He is also pretty decent defensively, his numbers dropped when he was coming off the bench, but based on the current line-up (of 5 guys), I would take him to be the starting SG....IF he is willing to accept less! _________________ “Always remember... In my dreams, I log onto Twitter in the morning on July 1 and see the headline, "The Phoenix Suns agree in principle to a 2-year, $18M deal with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope." |

He posted solid averages over the last 58 games, after a putrid first 24.
(8 points on 37.7% shooting to 12.8 and 44.4%)

Anything higher than a vet min would affect the cap.
His cap hold is ~$15M. So they need to renounce him and have him sign the vet min. Which I don't believe he will as he prob gets part of a mle from someone else. Or perhaps us |

We should be prepared for KCP to return, hopefully your quote is correct.
1. With limited resources, hes a descent spot up shooter.
2. He's a solid defender that could complement the average at best forwards (James and Kuzma) and scenarios that involve a non defensive use of cap space.
He'd have a specific role of guarding the best perimeter threat and spot up shoot, dish it off or drive an open lane. He wont get more than 5M on the market so coming back for cheap and utilizing his Bird rights the next year is a win win. Some may cringe on putting hope into him, but add some vets to go with the mid 20s guys entering their prime (Dlo, Kuz, KCP) and I'm happy. |

Can you explain the non-bird rights? I read it as this
Quote: | Non-Bird exception:
"Non-qualifying free agents" (those who do not qualify under either the Larry Bird exception or the early Bird exception) are subject to the non-Bird exception. Under this exception, teams can re-sign a player to a contract beginning at either 120% of his salary for the previous season, or 120% of the league's minimum salary, whichever amount is higher. Contracts signed under the Non-Bird exception can last up to four years (down from six under the 2005 CBA). |
Wouldnt this mean 120% x $12,000,000 since his previous salary is greater than the vet min? |

It would be a bad look for Klutch to have him resign here for a smaller contact 2 years in a row. however, there could be a wink wink from pelinka to sign for the MLE with the promise of giving him a fat contract the following year after the Lakers have his bird rights. _________________ Darvin |
