It's so odd. I could defend all of Magic and Rob's moves before getting LeBron..Then after that ...

Rob might as well start cleaning out his desk as well. No way he survives this.

Jeanie is the one in charge.

Jeanie will let whoever she hires make the basketball decisions.

The moves up until and including Lebron were beautiful. Clearing out the mess that Jim and Mitch has left, clearing out cap
Space while getting rid of two guys who were poor defenders (JR and DLO). I Still believe it was a great plan. They screwed up big time with roll players tho. They should have signed Noel or Cousins or both. The Stephenson and Beasley signings were really bad as well. Then trying to flip the whole team for AD when it was obvious NO wasn’t interested in dealing with us? Amateur.

Nope, I supported those moves and not gonna pretend like I didn’t. I sure as hell liked the direction more than Jim and mitch’s. I stand by my assessments at the time, a man has nothing if he doesn’t have his integrity lol.

That's how millions died fighting over a few yards of land during trench warfare in World War I.

Integrity is important, but knowing when to cut your losses is sometimes the wiser course.

Why was Palinka forced on Magic. If you’re choosing him as President let him pick his own GM and eventually his own coach. That part I don’t get.

How can luke stay after that article came out about Jeanie giving Magic approval to fire him? Seems like that could cause some issues or friction.

Unless there was another head coaching job opening up I can see him deciding to stay.

I think Magic’s ego was hurting this team more than it was helping.

He wanted to clean house as soon as he got here.
Since the season didn't go the way he expected it would, its a problem and he's throwing shade while stepping down.

He was part of the process in choosing a new GM if I recall, now its “we were paired together”.

JWest wanted to return last year, but Magic declined to add him.

He gloated for weeks about Zo before the draft, months back its leaked Magic wanted Fox, Jeanie wanted Ball ?!?!

Coaching staff wanted to retain BLo, Maginka (i believe its more Magic), didn't want a typical 5... then, we go after 10-15 games, get Tyson for rebounding and rim protection when BLo could have provided that and more.

Randle walked for nothing when he could have been retained, but Magic got LeBron and wanted to speed up our rebuild by gutting all the young kids.

Per previous reports, LeBron requested for shooters, Maginka went and got “tough minded playmakers”... then in Feb trade for Muscala & RB for “shooting”

Maybe Rob is the one “whispering and backstabbing” cause he nor Luke have a voice in decisions, and they roll with what Magic wants cause he’s PoBO.

Thank you for the effort to sign LeBron... but glad he stepped down.

This is certainly a very legitimate perspective and not one that surprises me or feels incorrect.

There are always 2 sides to every story and I think Luke, the normally quiet/zen guy, has one. Rob, the guy Magic wanted for his knowledge of CBA, also has thoughts.

Only one guy has spoken and if he cared about Jeanie and the franchise the way he does, he would have NEVER done it this way.

He'd have waited til exit interviews, talked with everyone in the FO, spoke with LeBron, and made up an excuse about health or time or whatever.

The dude made a mess of this situation and good riddance. Now Jeanie needs to get the right people.

No matter the excuse, magic will go down as one of the worst FO executives of all time.

Only idiots would sacrifice their intergrity for someone so foolish.

Jim Buss will be viewed more favorably as an executive in comparison, which says a lot about magic's failure.

I think this is pretty accurate. I would also add that while he was a genius on the court, I just don't think Magic has the analytical mind for coaching and building a team. I was unhappy originally with the hiring of Magic because when he would speak as an analyst, he never really showed great insight. Then the subsequent rejection of hiring Jerry West made me lose all hope.
