The worst thing to do now is trading LBJ. We will not get equivalent asset back. Trading him won’t make us the top destination for max free agents again. What’s worse, we have shipped out so many young talents in the last two years, without LBJ, we really lose them for nothing and we will be back tanking for more years. Jim/Mitch set a path to rebuild with young talent and Magic tried to change the direction so he had to pay extra cost to make it happen. We should go with the flow and accept he is an important part of the team. We should pursue the top free agent as planned. If we fail, we either find the right players to complement LBJ or we go the Nets way, using the cap space to absorb bad contract with a valuable asset.

Don't worry, South Bay Lakers guys will bail him out again. Caruso, JJ, Williams? Let's go.

It is, but it also feels like the media is taking Giannis decline and extrapolating that to “Lebron struggling to recruit NBA players...”

So Giannis "Hulu Has Live Sports" Antetokounmpo doesn't want to be in a major studio film? Sure.

It's a tough pill to take that James is a bigger brand than the LA Lakers. I prefer him to be a cog and have the franchise get the shine.

What sort of actions have the Lakers done in the past 6 years though to deserve the spotlight? Mostly negative stuff.

LeBron is not a bigger brand than the Lakers, Lakers is a multibillion dollars brand

Why is he the first superstar on the Lakers that I'm so "bleh" about?
I think once they start winning next year, I'll feel differently though.

That's not my point. What exactly have the Lakers done right the past 6 years to be held to such an exalted status?

A lot of their self-inflicted wounds are finally being called out.

LeBron James is determined to make the Lakers contenders:

"I won’t stop until I put this franchise in a position to compete for a championship, hopefully win a championship and hopefully see my jersey hang in the rafters. That’s what it’s about."

IIRC his "exit" interview was supposed to be at 6:30pm on Thursday.

Earvin Johnson sort of stole that slot.

It is probably more shoe contract related than anything

They moved Million Dollar Mile to Saturday after two episodes.

This is terrible if you follow the ratings narratives of prime time television.

LBJ needs to regroup if he wants Space Jam 2 to be a success.

He needs to get another star here without trading the farm, or find some nice players and make a playoff run to revive his narrative.

The LeGM primadonna image is killing his brand.

Chris Broussard just said on FS1, that Philly would be willing to do a Ben Simmons for LeBron trade.

Doubt it. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat though.

I'd consider it too.

But that Lonzo/Simmons backcourt? Lonzo would be gone in that case.
