By contrast, in summer 2003, Kobe went to New York, for an unauthorized shoulder surgery, and then went to Vail, for an unauthorized knee surgery.
In response, the Lakers did everything in their power to get him to re-sign in LA, including allowing PJ to "retire", and trading Shaq to Miami. |

People are shocked a 21-22 y/o almost made a bad decision? Based on the advice of someone he trusted?
Or that he DIDN'T make that bad decision?
Starting to look like there is nothing people can't spin into negative Lakers News. |

And there was a time when this would not have even been "news".
Now, we know almost everyting and analyze it to death.
Let's not be upset that the kid wanted to get healthy. |

Agreed. Not sure what the point is of all the dissection of every single quote and tweet. |

Nope.
If it were top 2-3, I'd seriously consider it. Dunn is not even NBA caliber, IMHO. #4 is crazy unpredictable. |

Nah. Don't love anyone in this draft except Zion. |

FWIW, Jerry West recently said Ja Moran’s is going to be the best player in this class. If I knew I could get Ja somehow, I’d 100% do it |

I like Lonzo but I am concerned that he is too fragile to be a reliable asset.
If the opportunity presented itself, I would trade him for Morant straight up. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Nobody really knows what the future holds at any time. I get what you mean about needing to plan/build better though, because that's how you reduce the impact of luck on your fortunes. For example, despite you feeling that things could get better in the early 90s, the team was meh and we probably would not have won anything for a long time had we not lucked into the Kobe deal (thank you, Dave Cowens and the Hornets!). Anyway, it's times like this that make winning titles that much sweeter.

I think he's definitely more skilled than Zion.
Zion is a better athlete, and will develop a more well-rounded game than he has noww; but, I'm not going to be shocked if Morant ends up having a better all-around pro game, given his current skill-set and athleticism.

His athleticism and natural instincts amaze me at times but his shot, his ball handling, and lack of aggressiveness concern me a lot. A #4 combined with our #11 could net us a player with greater impact in the draft or via trade. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Absolutely. I’d take that #4 + #11 + Dunn + BI and flip it for AD in principal so that we can sign a max FA first to max our cap space.
Still keep Kuz and Hart to round out the team |

Yep I’d do that to. When was the last time a team won a title with a lead guard that had Lonzo’s skill set? |

I doubt Lonzo would fetch a mid first round pick, let alone Dunn + #4 |

I'm guessing there are two or three galaxies separating these two players skillsets and value to
The NBA. not just their team
Fwiw, doesn't it say the doctor who was scheduled to do the work is also being sued by Lonzo for fraud?
Seems like a very weird situation |

Kidd was at the tail end. That Mavs team was deep and caught fire at the right time
Draymond can also guard 1-5 and doesn’t get hurt as easily |

Kidd also dragged a mediocre team to the finals in his prime and ran into Shaq and Kobe. Injuries are the worry, not skill set. That’s a different discussion. In the time where LeBron got hurt he showed he’s in the top tier of his draft class when healthy. |

The whole article is premised on Morant being off the board at #2/3 precipitating the trade for Ball. _________________ Under New Management |

Good deal for the Bulls if they can get it, though if I were Chicago's GM instead of GarPax, I'd be interested in drafting Culver and moving off of Lavine's deal. And next year's deep guard draft could yield a better PG than Ball, Fox, Morant, etc. _________________ Under New Management |
