If the Lakers are considering this level of coach for their franchise, it's pretty obvious that they want a "Puppet" and not a "Head Coach".
They want to allow LBJ to manipulate the strings and call of the shots from the floor.
I'm not saying this is a bad decision, its obviously one that works with the current player regime.

However its a short term solution either way, but not quite sure its solving anything, because the Lakers will have to win in order to prove that!

If I had to choose and this was my only options, it would be Lue, only because of his Lakers ties.

My recommendation for coach is a no-brainer... Mark Jackson hands down the best viable option.

What are you all expecting? Pat Riley to be an option? Lol or wait Steve Kerr? Some of you on here on unreal. Nobody is leaving a team that is a contender to come here. The quality about Monty would be at least it would get pop and his dogs off our backs. He is well respected and liked around the league. Been through difficult times and rose above. Took the pelicans to the playoffs. Lue idk. He couldn’t handle pressure in Cleveland and had to step down. Here it will be 100x the pressure he faced there. My money is on Monty but that laker family thing might be to hard to overcome.

We need a coach that could actually call the shots, not
a puppet.

As opposed to Luke who didn't coach Lebron at all? At least he's shown he'll get in his face.

I do not care about both of them. They are both crap coaches and nothing else. It should be third option called " none of the above".

Elaborate on how you know they are “crap coaches”.

CLEARLY monty williams consideration is in large part because of the continued mutual interest between the lakers and AD. Even if he isn't hired, I think it's the right move to feign interest in him because of AD.

KOBE guys, we need KOBE to bring us back!!! Give him full control of the franchise, let him mentor everyone and make all the decisions, then bring him back to play one more year once we trade lebron and get superstars back on our team like kawhi, durant, and kobe.

we need kobe!

It would be interesting to offer him a blank check and see what he wants.

The Lakers basically print money, and that's without making the play-offs every year like they used to.

They have 2 choices, get someone who will cater to Lebron (Lue); or get someone who can chew Lebron out (Pop, ?, ?, ?)

Or wait until we get a PBO.

From there, we can back channel coordinate with Kawhi to see who is best to coach BOTH LeBron AND Kawhi.

Add Lue and you're not getting any of the top Free Agents this year. The only message a move like that will send is they will be subservient to LeBron, not partners.

We are so up a creek without a paddle...

Make Pop the PBO.

I don't know. I'm not convinced that we are getting one this off-season.

Magic did us no favors with the timing of his announcement.

He had full authority to fire Rob & Luke and did neither.

Can we add a choice for Kobe? I think we all know who would get the most votes if we added KOBE.

Monty Williams is pretty solid. Has shown to coach good defenses in the past, runs a ton of pick n roll, players always play hard for him, and is considered a "scrub whisperer". When CP3 missed most of the 2009-2010 season, Darren Collison was able to fit in and had huge games, even some were saying CP3 was a system player due to the pick n roll heavy system at the time, as even Greivis Vasquez was putting up huge numbers under Monty Williams. Gets the most out of players that aren't the most talented like Vasquez, Brian Roberts, Jason Smith, Dante Cunningham, Alexis Ajinca, etc. that got paid and more opportunities in the league due to Monty. Monty maxes out a team that lacks talent, and he never had the opportunity to coach a really talented team with a ton of talent before. Never got to coach that Pelicans team with AD, Jrue, Gordon, Evans, & Ryan Anderson team in the 2 seasons in New Orleans due to injuries. Biggest negative was that Williams' Hornets/Pelicans teams never cracked 100 points scored in a full season, but imo was more due to lack of offensive talent and the league being much different, even back in 2014-15 when he last coached.

I honestly don't know what I would do if we hired Lue. I pray to my Kobe bobblehead every night that we can please end this nightmare with lebron. LOL, okay not literally, but you know what I am talking about.

I just can't believe we went from the Kobe era of winning championships to THIS....where we have Lebron James.

Monty Williams will be JUST FINE!! yes!

You want a coach that doesn’t like our best player? That makes no sense.

If makes perfect sense if you hate Lebron and want the team to fail.

Monty about as well connected and liked as anybody out there. Would buy them instant credibility with a lot of players and organizations. That may be their biggest need right now. Lue has more experience at the highest level, but would also further the notion that LeBron is running things. Could also become an issue with roster morale.

I could see them going Monty as the head coach, Howard as Associate HC. LeBron would probably be good with that, and it helps Jeanie and Rob the most of any scenario politically.

Well I don't want Lebron to steal Kobe's spotlight, if that makes any sense. All these years I'm used to seeing Kobe playing against lebron, trying to beat him, rooting against lebron.......now I'm supposed to root for him cuz he's in a lakers uniform.

see what I'm getting at?
so I am not sold on Lue because he's lebron's guy.

Kobe is retired, so there’s no reason to keep him in the spotlight and make decisions based on him.
