When did he do that? After watching him in NO. A Luke Walton level coach is what I'm expecting if he gets the job. Hopefully with a better staff though.

Come on, Clippers...please have super unrealistic goals this postseason so you fire Doc when you get swept out of the 1st round!

So we really trying to hire a coach before a president? This makes ZERO sense!! Unless Jeanie is really planning to let Pelinka run the whole show which is soooo dumb!

Hopefully they'll look to interview other names already but if I had to pick rank right this second, I'll go 1. Howard 2. Lue (cause he has rapport w/ Bron and won before) and 3. Monty.

President of Basketball Ops and filling out the front office should be the first priorities though.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that is in fact Jeanie’s plan, at least at this point.

I noticed Mark Madsen has already picked up a college job (UTAH VALLEY).

Also read that Van Exel was not selected to be the new coach @ Cincinnati...a job that he openly campaigned for, and was supported by several alumni including Kenyon Martin.

Those last two are on a lot of LG wish lists, but neither are contenders for this job. I'd be amazed if they were even interviewed, though it would be smart to at least interview a Spurs assistant just to get a glimpse into how they do things.

Monty Williams used to be a Spurs assistant under Pop, I’m sure he will help us with a lot of what the Spurs do to be successful.

I see these Groups will have say on coaching hire;

1. Jeanie and his friends who are Rambis family and Phil.

2. Pelinka

3. Lebron and Klutch

Seems like we have top 3 candidate as Lue, Howard and Monty.

As far as i see these are the advantages of those coaches;

Lue
- Won championship with Lebron with probably biggest comeback of NBA Finals

- ex Laker which is important for Buss family

- Connection with Kyrie

Howard
- Hes from Pat Riley coaching tree

- Has connections with both Lebron and Pelinka

- He coached young players at Heat

Monty
- Hes from Popovic coaching tree

- Developed young players.

- Has connections with Kawhi, Butler and AD

So lets break down which group would want which coach;

Jeanie and her friends probably wants Monty since hes not close to Lebron like other candidates which will fit with their agenda of "Buss family runs this team not Lebron".

Pelinka probably wants Howard who is the only candidate close to him.

Lebron and Klutch probably wants Lue who he they can trust and control more.

Phil won’t have anything to do with the decision. Rambis at least works for the team.

Also, from the reports we got others were hesitant to approach Lue due to the potential narrative and Jeanie was the one fine with it.

That's actually the page I looked at before posting. He's a sub .500 coach. Not saying he's bad. But I'd expect similar results if Luke was coaching those rosters. Or Alvin Gentry for example. They all look like a similar level of coach to me.

Jeanie is a complete moron when it comes to running a ball team and she doesn't think quickly enough on her feet to realize that she could/should have cleaned house and started fresh for the FUTURE of the ball club.

Instead, she didn't want to fire Pelinka (who just ended all his business relations to take this job) which she knew would hurt Kobe. Kobe is really the only Laker great she has left and IMO she didn't want to be the one to do that. Past Lakers are more important than the future of the franchise.

So yes, IMO, Pelinka is the guy and we won't see any PBO. Kobe probably gave her advice how smart Rob is and how he'll figure it out and they don't need that position.

Sad.

And honestly, Pelinka may prove us all wrong but I don't think so. I hope I'm wrong but if GT is right that the Zubac trade was RP, then I doubt I will be wrong.
