How many franchises (if they were in our position) wouldn't hire Lebron's favorite coach?

I don't think hiring an inexperienced yet analytics-friendly coach is a reasonable expectation.

Is he LeBron’s favorite coach? It feels like people just make that assumption to call Lue a puppet and downplay his actual qualifications.

Thank you. The whole narrative about lue being "lebrons puppet" and a power play for klutch is such an overstatement and an unfounded one at that. If we're evaluating strictly on basketball and coaching qualifications lue is easily the best coach available. Nonetheless with that being said, having the favor of your best player, a bonafide legend, and still possibly the best player in the NBA, as well as his agency which allows him to connect with players (without tampering) is bad why?

Here's a factor in the timing of Kokoskov's dismissal: The Suns are planning to target Philadelphia 76ers assistant Monty Williams, league sources tell ESPN. Lakers are planning a second interview with Williams soon, sources said.

Whoever gives you a better chance at Kawhi. That's who you hire. IF that's anybody at San Antonio, hire him/her. If it's a former player, hire him. Doesn't matter. Whoever lands you Kawhi, if possible, hire that person.

I've got the same question. Honestly. When I saw his name I was confused. Then when i saw his name lead the poll i was flabbergasted. Then when I saw the suns want to snipe him from us I was dumbfounded.

Williams has a really good reputation, and might influence KL or Davis to come here in respective free agencies. Lue has the advantage of being a Laker champion and a champion with Lebron when he was with the Cavs. Neither seems to be that good at defense, so unless we get some stalwart defensive players, I think we regress on defense, as Luke was pretty good at it. Offensively, Lue has a lot of sets Lebron was used to running. Lue probably gets it based on history, but if Monte can sell his coming brings a star, then Monte is the pick.

Judging by his past (see my thread on Lue vs Williams), I don't see a standout reason as to why he's so highly valued. I can think of 3 reasons:

1) It might be a case of people hearing whispers, that one team is interested, suddenly another team wants him, then the Lakers are interested, now the Suns are after him, and it snowballs like that

2) After seeing Budenholzer thrive, people might want coaches from the Popovich tree

3) People think he will bring Brett Brown elements to LA. But, just remember, we made this same mistake with Walton and GSW.
