It's funny, but at the same time, I'm proud of those Lakers fans who decided to go and protest. This franchise is a joke, what are we going to do if they don't notice these protests? Keep watching the Lakers games? Buying gear? Going to the arena and keep crying about how pathetic the FO is? I for one, at this point, if they don't sign one good free agent, and Rob Pelinka still there, with Kurt and Linda Rambis making basketball decisions, I'm not even going to watch them on TV. It's not the player's fault, it is the FO who are trash.

I agree the Lakers need to make some adjustments.

I applaud these small group of fans that took the time to get together and express their opinion.

Some got on ESPN and other news channel.

The organizer was mentioned in the ESPN article. Good for him.

Agree with your sentiment. LG is a great place filled with lots of smart and successful people, but sometimes it gets a bit too elitist for my taste.

How some posters reacted to this protest reminded me of a tenured professor scoffing at the audacity of campus workers striking while having also written award winning books on labor rights (happens more than you think).

People that spend their times as arm chair GMs on a forum while hoping the FO pays atttention to their posts trying to diminish or belittle this protest or the fans that went in any way is a meme in and of itself.

Completely agree. These Laker fans have the right to protest. They believe in the greater good for the franchise and they did something about it. Actions speak louder than words so I applaud them for it.

Elitists? Seriously?

And let’s be clear, none of us have had any impact on the franchise in terms of paying players or earning championships, or choosing who is on the Lakers. I’ve never implied anything but my Laker loyalty. You want to piss and moan with no goal to your whining... ain’t no one stopping you. And, I’ll clown these jokers all day, because they went out there as dumbasses with no solid message: no clear cut statement of work or solution to their perceived issue: the keystone purpose of a protest.

Hey at least we are smart enough to keep our embarrassing takes here where nobody will see it.

ESPN, the ringer, and the LA times are out there trying to catch a Laker fan looking like an idiot.

You're taking it a bit too far. Didn't seem like they hurt anyone.

You got it. I have no qualms for a protest when an egregious act has occurred, and the goal of the protest is to stop that specific act or to drive a specific outcome.

So to me this whole thing feels driven out of emotion and not logic, which makes sense because it all came together very quickly. Certainly not enough time to centralize a core message which means people just showed up because they are mad about something.

Just as dysfunctional and rudderless as the front office they're complaining about.

Looks like about 35-40 showed up. The organizer was actually based in Phoenix and bought plane ticket to show up at the event. Despite the numbers , they did accomplish what they set out to do which was to get air time and a little pub from the local/national media.

@LBP

They have every right to do whatever they please. They are also subject to judgment on their desire for publicity.

My humble judgement: disorganized man babies.

It does not sound too disorganized.

They got their story on ESPN and other radio sports talk hosts were there.

They had a modest amount of fans.

They also paid the necessary permit to conduct this protest.

That does not sound too disorganized to me.

He also was able to make his point which is the decision making in the FO.

This is nothing new but you have to applaud their effort.

Lakers protester: 'Nepotism shouldn't be involved'

"The organizer of a protest over the state of the Los Angeles Lakers says the issues with the team boil down to one thing: decision-making on a front-office level. . . ."

Good for those fans. If I lived or worked downtown I would've attended. Been a fan for about 35 years and I'm on the brink of defecting. And it hurts me to say that. Fact is I don't mind following bad teams for the sake of entertainment and loyalty. But I draw the line at bad ownership. I won't follow incompetence into the fire, and Jeannie has proven to be incompetent. I'm pretty impressed how quickly these fans organized this protest though. I don't feel the need to mock them because I feel the same way they do.

Sure, judge away.

Calling them "dumbasses" sounds a bit over the top, especially when they're not hurting anyone.

I don't understand your level of vitriol.

It seemed like a joke but if everything goes wrong in two months, then maybe
we ll see 1000 people in the next protest.

Even though they are being made fun of by the MSM, at least they made the news, and you know that somehow word of it will get back to Jeanie.

He said right now it is, but that he’s still all about the Lakers.
