Was listening to Simmons' podcast. At about the 41 minute mark, he and the Celtics broadcaster were in the middle of bashing Kyrie and Simmons throws out that the Lakers walked away from Lue because he doesn't get along with Kyrie. Is that the smoking gun?

C'MON DOWN, KYRIE!

For the record, he said that it's something he's heard and he has no idea if it's true.

It also seems unlikely given the fact that the Lakers did, indeed, offer Lue a contract.

No, Bill. Our front office is just stupid and routinely screws up basic things.

Exactly. Kyrie can tolerate Lue for 3 years but not 5?

this is Jeannie and Linda trying to do damage control after the Lue debacle and all the bad press and ridicule that resulted.

Bill Simmons is connected. He was one of the first to call LeBron to the Lakers when no one else was.

Where is Kevin McHale when you really need him.

I don't like Bill Simmons but I can't see why he would spin this story if it didn't have credibility, it must actually pain him to say it because I'm sure he would love to ride the "Lakers are dysfunctional" train as long as he can. He'd only say this if he wanted him breaking this before anyone else on his resume.

Never thought I'd see the day where maybe I side with Kevin on that one.

I was just watching videos of hard fouls and for the first time I didn't become annoyed upon seeing the clothesline. I'm going to tell myself it was a triggering event that put Kurt's life on the path to the 6 piece chicken mcnightmare that the Lakers are in today just so I can maintain a healthy chauvinism against Boston.

It is possible that Kyrie let it be know he wanted to come to the Lakers but not if Lue was the coach, and he did so after they had already started negotiations with Lue...so they pulled the offer. I know everyone want to believe that Jeannie and company are dumb and incompetent, but this is what I suspected as soon as I heard about Kyrie.

Same here.

Lue was inevitable . . . then the Celtics fell behind 3-1 . . . then the Lakers walked away . . .

TBH, I didn't think Kyrie, I was thinking they might want to talk to Brad Stevens.
