That’s what people said about Lebron.
Quote: | It's time to build a franchise organically. Look at Denver, Portland. It's possible but it takes time and patience
|
But those teams haven’t won anything. |
Lebron's gonna be 35 next season. The signing could pay off or it could backfire miserably. My point was that it's impossible to go from a non-playoff team to a championship contender in a year. It's a step by step progression. You build a foundation, establish a culture and then go from there. We have nothing at the moment. We don't even know BI's status and if he will play. I thought they were building something special when BroLo and Randle were here, but it was all for naught. It's like they hit the reset button with those 1 year deals. That level of instability has a way to deterring free agents. |
Can’t disagree with you there. Losing Randle was a (bleep) joke. People were laughing at the team then and the move still looks pathetic today. |

I once said KD would never leave OKC. They lined the streets and showed him so much love after he won the MVP. It was amazing how loved he was but at the end of the day, it did not matter.
Point being, it's easy to get caught up in the moment. |

Like how we all felt about PG being a sure thing after he got humiliated by a rookie.
I think the decision has already been made by Kawhi even prior to the playoffs, and the only possibility of him changing his mind is if they win it all. |

I thought we did? The last thing I read said BI's clot issue was not a result of a blood issue but was caused by some abnormality with his bone structure (which he had operated to correct). This means that the clot issue shouldn't recur.

As great as KD is I don't see him singlehandedly carrying a team like KL is doing right now without a second star player. |

It's close between KD, Giannis, and Kawhi imo. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

I got 1. Giannis, 2. KD, 3. Kawhi. KD can make that shot that Kawhi took, and would score more on that Toronto team. You can argue Kawhi's impact on defense, but he was not really guarding anyone significant on the Sixers. At the same time, KD didn't really have to defend anyone either. This debate may be settled in the next series though. |

Wow, that g7 buzzer beater!! Could that tip the scale in favor of Kawhi staying in Toronto? That was some crazy (bleep). I didn't watch the game but watching that shot on replay was hair raising. I can't imagine how it was live.
In any case, that might effect the Lakers' chances of landing Kawhi. If he did decide to stay, then we could look at this shot as one of the major contributing factors. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend! |

Yeah, I still see people comparing it to Bosh which is obviously nowhere remotely similar besides both being blood clots.. The only real concern with Brandon i'd say at this point is how much he is going to be able to work on his game and body this off season. |

Hard to see Kawhi leaving. So much emotion to just walk away from and if he makes it to the ECF and KD isn't there.. he could get Canada a title. How crazy is that.
Maybe I'm being a prisoner of the moment but damn I don't see him walking away. |

To everyone echoing these sentiments, just recall LeBron's playoff run from one year ago. People thought he was going to stay with Cleveland because he looked engaged during the playoffs, was fired up, and when he hit those big buzzer-beating shots, he was very emotional. Yeah, because he's a competitor. But he knew 100% he was gone no matter what happened in the playoffs.
Now, maybe this run will impact Kawhi's decision, if he truly was open to anything as he went into this season. But if his mind was set on LA before the season, I doubt that Toronto's run will change that. Notice I said "LA" and not "Lakers", because I still think the Clippers have a good shot at him. |

His team is doing better than ours has for near 10 years? |
