Hm. FWIW, Eric, Brian Windhorst had the complete opposite take to yours. In his column published last night he said Pelinka was the one who drove the Vogel hire and was behind the 3-year deals offered to Lue and other coaches.

We got a coach, time to rally behind him and management and focus on improving the Roster...!

Was Luke over creative offensively and defensively?
Was his staff competent enough to enhance the abilities of their young players?
In all the 3 years he coached the Lakers' perimeter shooting, free throw shooting and overall scoring fell behind the rest of the league, and there was no change for the better.
How did Lue fare after LBJ left?
How much did Monty Williams do in New Orleans?
Bottom line Vogel and Kidd are just as good as these other mentioned. Success in the NBA is about having great stars, and good luck as in not having major injuries.

It's sad that Frank Vogel and Kidd have not even had a chance to coach and all you hear everywhere negativity. Let's give these guys a chance and hope they can succeed, instead of maligning them before the season even begins.
Who knows maybe the Lakers will make the playoffs next year, and all of this hate will disappear.

Clickbait. One of our own has joined the ranks of the unwashed barking media. Disappointing. Saving my click throughs for a worthy effort.

Stupid article. Under any unbiased analysis Vogel is as good of a coach as Lue. Yes, Lue has a ring but he also had LBJ. The only way to know if the Lakers made a bad choice is knowing what the FAs that will be available think about the coaches. If Kawai would have loved Lue but won't come only because of Vogel, then there is evidence. But none of us know this.

Of course, the other argument is that the FAs don't like the drama of the organization. This might be true and the drama might be partly created by the ownership and front office but the drama is also created by the media and crap articles putting a legitimate NBA coach down by focusing on him being the third choice. Besides there seems to be solid evidence that Monte Williams wasn't offered the job, so maybe not third choice at all.

The bottom line is that this is going to be a very important summer. Sign or trade for an all-star quality player that fits in well and don't give up too much doing it. The trade the pick and ALL the youngsters for AD is a disaster of a plan as is the save all the youth and wish real hard they become all stars idea.

Exactly. Maybe I'm just a grumpy ass today, but the ignorance of so many so-called Lakers fans is pissing me off today. But what this really is, is a testament to how freaking great Kobe was. The dude spoiled us into thinking that winning to being close every year was easy and expected.
