Weren’t Pelicans in the 9th spot and they won the lottery? And we were 11th, just 4 games difference? _________________ Tacos |

Tanking hard guarantees nothing.
Those who proposed to do it were wrong thus eat your crow here.
BVH did, I bow to him. |
Do you know how chance works? Just curious. |
Chance is self explanatory. |
If that's true, why would anyone who is in favor of tanking need to eat crow?
Being the best at tanking gives you the best chance at the top pick. |
Because having the best chances does not guarantee anything.
If having greater chances is achieved by doing something positive then I'm in but if it means selling your soul to the devil F dat. _________________ Trade AD now. |

Nobody knew what will go down.
We jumped 7 places without tanking hard.
Could have gone either way. _________________ Trade AD now. |

Who cares. It is simple stats 101.
Either be a contender (lebron did not totally recover, so no) or tank hard.
Just making the playoffs are for small markets. |

There is nothing you can do in the game of basketball to guarantee things. You can acquire Durant and Curry and Giannis and you are not guaranteed a championship. But you have a great chance at it.
If you're against tanking because you feel it is negative, that is totally understandable but also different.
Mathematically speaking, it is better to have a 14 percent chance at something than a 2 percent chance at something regardless of whether the 2 percent chance hits and the 14 percent chance doesn't. |

Mathematically speaking, you lose games in front of crowds that spend money selling out Staples - on purpose. It’s bad business and gambling for a prospect that hasn’t proven jack in a league of grown professional ball players. |

Wouldn't mind seeing Lonzo-Kuz-BI-Hart-Wagner against GS instead of Clips tho
#11 (chance for top 4 pick) vs #16-20 pick |

What happened is a very basic exercise in chance.
If your point is you don't like tanking regardless of the outcome, that's fine, I understand that position.
But one's feelings on tanking is completely irrelevant relative to the outcome. |

Justify winning something no one has control over by always attempting to win games... I’m lost here. No ones justifying the 4 pick by winning games. We’re taking it as a lucky free gift when we should have been the 11th overall by our record. The thought of losing games to earn a better pick than 4 is flawed. It’s mathematically sound, but we’re not in a think tank solving rocket propelled enigmas. We’re taking about effort by paid professionals... sometimes it’s the non stars that step up in the big games and allow the MVP his moment in confetti.
All due respect, my Laker kin; it’s effort that is the bottom line here. Not math. |

That's a perfectly acceptable position to have. I'm merely saying that having a position on the merits of tanking, has nothing to do with the outcome of the lottery. The outcome of the lottery is irrelevant. |

That's fine. I have no issue with you being against it. I get it. But you're using an event that only occurs 9.4% of the time, to justify doing an event that occurs 9.4% or less of the time.
That's nonsensical. |

Gawd. Are you the guy at poker games that plays 10-4 offsuit hard every time because you took down aces once with it?
If someone wants the best chance at the 1st pick next year, would it best to finish with the worst record or the 7th worst record? |

The chances of winning the #1 pick next year, remain the same as they were this year.
So once again, my question to you, if you understand chance, is regardless of how you feel about tanking, would it better to finish with the worst record next year or the 7th worst record without knowing the outcome of next year's draft lottery? |
