For some reason I just got a picture of a bunch of guys hanging out on the sidelines during football practice comparing their Adversity scores for street cred.

thats dumb. Colleges already do this in the admissions process so no need to try to blend it into a test score.

Fix the SAT's and then forgive all student loans! That will prepare minority students for the workforce!

Yep. Colleges already weigh in the quality of each school wealth, opportunities for the applicant, and their economic status.

I say we just abolish college all together. Problem solved!

Several of my high school classmates spent $3000 the summer before their junior year to get SAT prep. For most it improved their score by ~300 points.

I don't think this is the best solution but I can understand the reasoning.

Yeah, the concerning part is the lack of transparency on how they plan to use the information including how much weight “adversity” carries.

This is the issue with these things....someone is deciding what is an adversity and what is not an adversity....and how much of an adversity something is....and trying to standardize that across millions of extremely different people with different experiences. Over time motives will become polluted, and it will end up being a way to justify putting their thumb on the scales for some more than others.

For sure. I think ideally you'd have a transparent, standardized adjustment but then it's not really obvious on what. Currently we punt it to the college adcoms but it's not clear to me that's a better solution since I think it'll be hard for them to get over, say, an 1100 for someone who took the SAT once on 3 hours sleep with zero prep because they watched over their 4 younger siblings. I just don't like that solution.

But if College Board leaves it as a black box... yikes. Gotta be transparent with this kind of thing.
