MDA contract negotiations fell through just like Lue’s....yet media is not framing Morley to be incompetent like they are framing the Lakers as such?

MDA is a very different situation. He's under contract for next year. They simply couldn't come to agreement on a extension, but they will pick up the talks later. That's really nothing like what happened with Lue

The Lakers are the NBA, our supposed front office drama generates more clicks than the current Finals matchup.

The city will be on fire (perhaps literally) when we win our next title to tie the Celtics before passing them and putting them in the coffin forever.

Hopefully, soon, figuratively & not literally.

Cuz nobody cares about or likes the Houston rockets outside of Texas. There is a press conference every time one of our execs take a sh*t and doves are released any time one of our players hit a 3.

As AV pointed out, it's not at all the same situation. And yet...there does seem to be something funny going on in Houston. It would be a much bigger deal here.

Sounded like MDA wanted a lot of years and guaranteed money and Houston wanted a small base salary with a lot of incentives, things like getting past the 2nd round, winning the west, winning a championship. Obviously MDA wanted no part of that.

Who?

That Genius Ty Lue?

The guy that turned down a 3 year Head Coaching gig in favor of a 5 year Assistant Coach position?

Cue up the: "Where are they Now?" thread

Guess they want to blow it up after they gave out all those expensive contracts.....good luck to them trying to unload anybody not named James Harden.

Pretty disparate situations, not sure how you compare them.

But one key difference? The Rockets are successful. Deep playoff runs year after year. Morey has the credibility to do what he wants with the coaching situation. None of these things apply to the Lakers/Pelinka. In fact it's the total opposite.

Different situation, but everything Lakers is amplified.

Rockets clearly have their issues, seems like their owner is very hands on. Don't think Morey is a fan and wouldn't be surprised to see Morey try to bounce. D'Antoni will have his choice of the open jobs and get a 5 year deal next season.

The Rockets situation will not end well, MDA walks when he's not wanted and that seems to be the case. Houston has been close in the past but got spanked this year. Sounds like they're willing to blow it up.

At the end of the day, the Lakers are the better punching bag for ESPN
And most commentators in general.

Making fun of high profile teams gets ratings. ESPN knows their audience.

I think Lue is owed $10M from the Cavs. Maybe he doesn't have to give any of that money back if he's an assistant coach?

Media drama or not, there's definitely something iffy going on in Houston. Their new owner inherited most of the current roster and power structure there, and he's already shown in this year's deadline he's not happy about paying luxury tax. I could see major dominoes falling there soon, the writing is on the wall.

What? The 2 max players arguing after an underperforming playoff run? Firing all the assistant coaches? Every players are available to trade? Coach contract extension... dead?

Are they the Lakers? No, so this is called usual basketball business
