Davis played Center this past season. |

Davis at the 4 and Bron at the 3 will not work unless you have an undersized C who can guard the perimeter. |

Can Marcus Morris do that? I’d love to get him if we can. I think he has the same agent as LeBron. |

Not sure Morris is an above average perimeter defender. He's not bad but you need to have 2 good perimeter defenders next to LBJ and AD imo.
If I am trading for AD, I look to keep Zo.
Either get Butler, Harris, Middleton or split the space you have left for Terrance Ross, re-sign Bullock, and Morris.
You still have Hart.
Another name that might be possible, Brogdon. How much will the Bucks offer?
He would be a perfect 2-guard next to Zo. |

positions dont mean much now with positionless basketball. You have 6'6 PJ Tucker player the 5 spot and nobody is calling him a center.
You can roll out a lineup with something like:
exception
Hart
Butler
Lebron
AD
and still call Lebron a SF and AD a PF. _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

I agree with Pak Lebron ain’t playing PF full time and AD ain’t playing Center full time. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

I think the Lakers could contend for a title with Butler if they fill out the rest of the team smartly with solid role players, and if Ingram takes the next step forward and averages 21-24 pts while improving his 3-pt shooting enough.
Seeing what the Raptors have been doing is giving me hope. They don't have a second star, and on any given night either Siakam, Lowry, Gasol or Ibaka fills in as that second star.
I've always thought you need 2-3 bona fide stars to win a world championship, but the Raptors are making me think it may not be an absolute requirement if you have great depth, and you defend and run well for 48 minutes. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

So with some of the latest thread discussions we have:
-More Garland talk at 4
-Butler as a likely Laker commit, Kyrie possibly to Brooklyn
-AD trade timing has always been an issue
If James knows he has Butler and his Klutch guy Garland to mentor, they're a 50 win team and still have all their pieces for another deal. It doesn't have to be for AD, but this is a nice plug and play roster short term while they line up for a guy like KAT
Ball/Ingram/Butler/James/McGee gives you balance
Garland & Kuz are a dynamic bench duo with Hart & Wagner as spot up threats. You would stagger minutes:
Ball 28/Garland 20
Ingram 28/Ball 6/Hart 14
Butler 34/James 14
James 18/Kuzma 30
McGee 24/Wagner 16/vet min banger 8 |

I like that team but would make a couple of changes.
I'd try and get either Millsap or Morris and have them start at PF. I don't want LeBron getting worn down next season battling bigger players and missing games. We need him to stay healthy next year.
BI I feel would be better suited coming off the bench where he can have the ball in his hands more and create for himself and others. Most championship teams have a good 6th man (Odom, Ginobili, Iggy, etc.) and he could still finish games and play starters minutes and have a huge impact.
Round off the roster with a couple of smart experienced veterans like Chandler and Ellington and we can make a deep playoff run.
Zo/BI/Caruso
Butler/Garland/Ellington
LeBron/Hart/Bonga
Millsap/Kuzma/Williams
McGee/Wagner/Chandler |

Lakers interested in Jimmy Butler who is opting out of Sixers contract
https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-jimmy-butler-intends-to-decline-player-option-190113282.html
Quote: |
Philadelphia 76ers forward Jimmy Butler intends to decline his player option — barring an unforeseen change of circumstances — yet the Sixers remain adamant about doing whatever it takes to retain the star, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
In opting out of the $19.8 million player option — in which he has a June 29 deadline to do so — it sets the eight-year veteran up to be one of the top unrestricted free agents on the market.
The Sixers were prepared for this decision, sources said.
Butler, 29, was always a top priority for the franchise, but the four-time All-Star further solidified his value to the team in the postseason with his consistent play and veteran leadership, sources said.
Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, has been resolute since Butler’s trade demand out of Minnesota that any teams interested in him would be competing with multiple maximum contract offers, and that market is revealing itself to be true.
The Los Angeles Lakers have genuine interest in acquiring Butler, sources said.
“Knock on wood, I will get a max contract no matter where I go,” Butler stated at his exit interview last month. “You always want to be able to win. I think that’s key, for sure. You’re looking at coaches, you’re looking at the city. There’s a lot that goes into it.”

We can also trade some of the kids for a lower-profile consolidation move in the middle of the season |

Or keep them and eventually pay them and we have some ammo when Lebron is gone and Butler is post-prime. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

This is probably my ideal scenario. Over any AD trade possibility. Deep team with a defensive focus. Zo and Butler would be nasty as a backcourt. |

That starting lineup is at least a top 5 defense in the league. But the lack of shooting is worrisome. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |
