BI is gone. If there’s a way to keep 2 of Kuz, Zo and 4 it’s a win... |
what are you basing BI is gone, but there is hope to keep Lonzo? I think Lonzo's contract being higher and under team control longer makes him the most likely moved. BI is probably a close 2nd because of his contract amount. |

At this point, I just wonder who we are bidding against. We can't get him for a pittance, sure, but our position seems to be getting stronger by the second. |
We are bidding against ourselves, but if we really want to maximize FA, we also need to offer $21.5m in contracts, which requires us to overpay in a way. |
it depends on who we could possible get in FA.....really suck to overpay and have Kawhi, Klay, Kyrie and Butler all say no...which appears very possible. |

If we could get Kawho and AD on this team, I dont care who we would need to trade to Male that happen. However, still, you dont give away assets just to give them away. Every asset lost is also a lost opportunity regardless of who you know is coming. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

Thanks Bard, last question..
What if we don't think we're getting a max, so we end up sending out 16-18 mil instead of 21? Does it have to be 21 no matter what? Or can we just subtract the difference from our space? |

I would expect both to be gone...not sure both end up in New Orleans. |

That is roughly $3.5 million over a $109 million salary cap. |
Obviously we will be over the cap once the dust settle's, but isn't that the point of waiting to execute the trade until we actually sign a 30% guy? If we are just at/under the cap after signing a max, are we still allowed to send out the 21m to acquire AD putting us over the cap?
Edit: Sorry, just saw your explanation above that clears it up. |
I think you can sign your own free agents and go over the cap.....cant you
so kcp, rondo, lance and macgee can be resigned at a descent rate |
Nope. We only get the cap space if we renounce those guys and lose our rights to them. |

I will go on record saying that if we could actually sign Kawhi in FA, I would rather keep BI, Ball and the #4.
Also, if I was a GM, the lesson I would take from the Lakers is to never sign your 1st Superstar on your roster if he is over 30 years old. This Lebron timeline really limits a teams decisions in my opinion. |

that is the dream...but appears near impossible |
Apparently Lakers prefer Luzma the most because he is cost controlled and at a small salary for two more years to boot. For the same reason, the Pelicand may also value Kuzma regardless of any opinion that BI is the superior talent. From a cap standpoint, because his deal is up this year, BI is the worst asset. That may make him the least tradable too. I'm holding out hope that is the case. |
If this trade doesn’t happen then we will be on the hook to make that decision _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

+1.
I used to think you were just cynical but, man, you are on point about most of the recent poor management decisions....
If it really is 3-4 cost controlled players plus first round picks for a player who is telling you he is opting out the next year no matter what that is absolutely insane - REGARDLESS of how good ANY of the players are in the trade. |
+2...guys this is the new smell of a weak FO |

I assumed NO would demand BI, but after the Pincus post I'm not sure. What if they're high enough on Kuzma and find a 3rd team player for the 4 pick. Could be Zo, #4, Kuzma and either Hart or a protected 1st.
Any team with LBJ, Davis and Ingram would be potent but I dont know what you do in FA if you only have say 21M. Vucevic? I'd love a post draft non BI trade, but how do you trust the Pels on any sort of agreement? |

How many players do we have to trade to match salary? It takes a lot of young guys to match AD's value. |

I feel the same way. The depth of “the kids” and their cost effectiveness of being on rookie scale contracts is more important, since they can limit the minutes/load on Kawhi and Lebron during the regular season. |

That's what I'm getting at. It's looking like Lonzo + BI are needed to reach the 21m, but if we could replace one of them with Kuz/Hart + filler, then round out the roster with good role players, that would be a major win. |

I don't necessarily disagree with your argument, but it should be noted that both Warriors came into the league at the age of 21 after each playing three years in college. I think that extra development makes a huge difference. |

- Lamb

Wait. So the "we'll be pleased" was about ONLY AD?
I thought it was a guarantee for the 3rd super star.
