I'm all for getting AD, but if we get him and a big FA we still need young, quality role players to fill out the roster.

I don't want us to be in a position where the only guys we can get to fill out the roster are old guys on their last legs who can't run or jump anymore, a la the early 2000s.

Time for Rob to prove he's a master negotiator.

Posted in another thread but based on what happened to get Dwight Howard in 2012 - ZO,BI and #4 straight up for AD is not objectively an overpay....

Bigger issue is....Does AD,LBJ,Kuz,Hart,Wagner, Bonga and about 26M cap make a contender? And then what if AD gets pissed and leaves sometime in the year ala Dwight?

Adding Kuz, Hart and/or any other assets on top of the 3 vital assets would be insane especially when the Lakers could simply wait and sign AD for free next year.

A. Don't offer anything much more than what other teams are offering.

and

B. Don't bid against yourself.

New Orleans leverage gets less and less the longer this goes on.

Yes... easily. Come on. AD and LeBron are best dup next year, Kuz becomes a 3rd guy, and we can sign guys like Beverly, Danny Green, Collison, etc.

I hope we play along and tell the Pelicans we're giving every trade piece available only to pull the plug the last minute and give 'basketball reasons' as the excuse... bit of a payback for all those years of torment.

Klutch would never let AD abandoned Lebron like that.

I'm confused why people still trust Lonzos durability
His body seems like a risk to keep on our roster, no?

2 straight 'confirmed' rumors of yourself getting traded... we need to make this AD trade go thru, this can't be good at all for all parties involved if not done

Here's what I suspect is happening.

Lakers will gladly give up #4 + some combo of Balll/Ingram/Kuzma/Hart

Probably two of Ball/Ingram/Kuzma, with Hart as a foregone conclusion if the Pels want him.

The Pelicans are wary of the #4 pick, because as everyone keeps saying, this is a top-3 heavy draft.

After the top 3, its Hunter/Culver/Garland, any of whom could be great, or any of whom could be a bust.

Accordingly, the Pels are putting pressure on the Lakers to turn the #4 pick into an existing talent, because, well, if the Lakers can't turn #4 into something, then why should the Pelicans be expected to?

In reality, both the Lakers and the Pelicans are working on finding out what the #4 is worth, with teams naturally hesitant to put their best offer out there for #4, because they know the better player made available, the more likely it is that AD lands in LA (which deep down, no one really wants, other than the Lakes, and maybe Adam Silver).

At the end of the day, the Lakers will be willing to give up pretty much anyone the Lakers have on the roster, + #4. Ultimately, they will try to keep at least one of Ball/Ingram/Kuzma (preferably 2 of them, but that is doubtful).

There are pros/cons to trading/keeping any of them.

Personally, I think that deep down, James & Co. would like to keep Ball, because he is the one that can do the most to take pressure off of both James and Davis, and despite his deficiencies, he clearly embraced the spotlight and won't shrink from the situation.

So ultimately, I think this comes down to what the #4 pick can be turned into, and whether or not another team swoops in and puts a better package on the table.

I don't see the Lakers letting this die over ANYONE on the current roster (or the #4 pick), other than LBJ.

I'm not huge on it to be honest. Can we get another max guy if we also get AD?

With only a year left on his deal, I wouldn't give the house up for him.

If getting AD meant we could then go out and get a 3rd star via free agency, the fine it's better because joining AD and Bron is more attractive for a potential star free agent than it is without AD.

But if it hampers us, then i'm not sold on AD plus Bron plus a team of nobodies being enough to win it all.

At this point I’d only offer BI-Wagner-4th pick-Bonga-future 1st

Take it or leave it NOP. They have no leverage.

I'd give up all 4 of our major assets, to be honest. But if I could keep one it would probably be Lonzo.

I would trade them all for AD. dude this is Anthony Davis, at one time, considered the best player in the league...he can be that again.... once he joins, gurantee another max star will join, and then vet shooters will join for minimum for a chance to win a ring...

This would be the absolute max trade offer I'd give to the Pelicans. Try to keep Kuz, but only include him if absolutely necessary to make the trade work.
