If GSW comes back and wins the championship, imo that would be just another dagger in KD's soul because I feel like it would invalidate his 2 rings in the minds of many.
Maybe no one in the media will talk about it for a while just because they don't want to come off as classless so soon after his injury, but once the bad feelings about it wear off I feel like many people will want to permanently put an asterisk next to KD's 2 rings.
I just don't see GS beating them without KD. Role players always look better at home and that's why I think TO is going to close this out in game 6. Guys like Siakam, Danny Green, M. Gasol, Ibaka will play better. As hot as GS was, this was still a tight game. So this asterisk narrative will be a moot point imo.
Game 6 is at Oracle though, and Game 7s typically have less of a homecourt advantage, especially considering the Raptors are new to this whereas the Warriors are not.

How bad have the 2019 Finals been for fans spending huge chunks of money on tickets to go to these games. 4 of the 5 NBA Finals games (so far) and 5 of the 7 NHL Stanley Cup Finals games (including Game 7) ended with the home team losing and their fans leaving with a bad taste in their mouths.
Makes you wonder if home field advantage is still a thing at the highest levels of competition.

I think it really depends on the sport. IMO, for indoor sports like basketball and hockey it's less of a thing relative to outdoor sports like football. In an outdoor sport situation you have different weather to contend with, week-long preparation, crowd noise having a significant impact on play calling/line of scrimmage stuff pre-snap, etc. No similar issues with indoor sports.
A caveat would be college sports, where home court in basketball seems to me to have a bigger impact. But overall, I think you're right regarding these two professional sports specifically. _________________ one dog goes that way the other dog goes the other way

I give Jurassic the edge in this series not because of HCA but attrition. They have weathered the season and gone into the finals with the fewest injuries.
They have one hampered superstar, Kawhi Leonard. Golden has one healthy superstar, Stephen Curry. Durant is done. Klay, Looney, Cousins are playing with pain. Neither is 100%
If the Raptors lose the series it will go down as one huge choke or the surfacing of what the heart of a champion looks like. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Yeah, Kawhi seems annoyed by stupid questions from the media. I don't think he would enjoy being asked about legacy, the dysfunction of the FO, comparisons to Kobe, etc. all the time.

Kawhi left the city most suited to fit his personality, San Antonio. Pop shielded him from the media, it'a small market city.
It's rumored he was tired of the city. It's believed, with reason, the medical staff misdiagnosed his injury. It's been pushed around that his reasons for not playing weren't believed. Given the last two reasons his leaving is understood.
I think Kawhi can handle the media in LA or NY. He has a personality that's not easily ruffled. He handles the media as he does his game, without emotion.
He does his job on the court without fanfare. He answers media question same. His answers are direct and to the point, not bloviated. (SAS )
He'll be fine wherever he goes. If Toronto wins the chip he may stay in Canada. I don't think he will.
I think we can rule the Lakers out, it's been printed he doesn't want to play with James. If he comes here he'll be a Clipper.
Forget Kawhi. Don't chase a canoe through the rapids without a super duper life jacket, the falls are just ahead. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
