I'm in the middle of my first replay. This show is twice is funny as I remember, I'm cackling and wheezing every five minutes...am I that much more a cynical prick or did I just not pay enough attention the first time? Like when Jay sends Mike to the palm reader to get help on a cold case, scene opens with her asking him "You're irish, right?" And Mike, annoyed, says "...Italian! San Angelo? (duh)"
another: Lt. Daniels tries to get the kid who got his eye taken out by Prezbo to turn a new leaf; appeals to a better future and offers him a reese's peanut butter cup as rapport. The kid, a lost cause, goes smug and says "Motha (bleep) thinks he can pimp me over a candy bar."

Jay Landsman auditioned to play himself, but didn't get the part. The role went to Delaney Williams, and thank god.
Chris Bauer was only 36 when he played Frank Sobotka...yikes

I'm 36 now and he could have legitimately played my dad, as he looked back then. Granted, I do look younger than my age.

Bauer basically looks the same as Frank Sobotka (The Wire) as he did Andy Bellefleur (True Blood) 5-10 years later and as he does playing Bobby Dwyer (The Deuce) now. Maybe that is a benefit of looking much older.....at some point you take a break from aging.
He has an interesting series coming up this Fall on Apple TV called "For All Mankind"......if you have interest in alternative history type shows |
