I didn't even know Lakersball existed until the Kawhi festivities. Had wondered what happened to Clublakers. Just read a few people going off on LG over there. Some harsh words. Definitely some ageism as well with the cracks about everyone being over 50!
I love LG pretty much as it is, the server issues being the one obvious thing everyone would love upgraded. I don't need pics, GIFs, likes, dislikes, all that. I'm an old-school guy in that I want guys going to the basket on 3 on 1 fast breaks instead of drifting off to the wings and in my love of just plain old text and the written word. And I love reading so many people's words on LG. So, yeah, only thing I'd like is to make sure that access is always there. |

| One thing I've noticed is really old threads are still in the archives. I found a thread from 2007 about a trade rumor of Kobe to Portland for Zach Randolph and Greg Oden. Would system run faster if threads before a certain date were deleted from memory? |

The disk drive that stores the threads (new & old) is not likely to be the problem with performance. |

I'd donate for an upgrade. I don't care if media is embedded or not, but my list of desired improvements include:
- Faster server response when big news is happening
- A feature where mega-long nested responses in a thread are automatically snipped in a box until the reader chooses to expand the box.
- The ability to permanently ignore posters and/or ignore threads
- A useful, fully functional search feature
- Mobile friendly |

I would seriously donate to a cause like that.
I'm sure this forum software was the bee's knees in 2001 but my gawd, it was showing its age 8 years ago when I signed up!

Agreed, a mobile version is desperately needed. I had to download an entirely separate browser just to look at LG because it's so buggy with ads!  |

Are you sure you want "embed" and not satisfied with "link", such as this?
I, for one, am reticent to go to websites that support uncurated, user-generated content, especially content that promotes hate: youtube specifically falls in this category! It also shifts the burden of cleanliness on the moderators, something that I don't see why we at LG should do, if the source websites such as youtube themselves don't. My $0.02 |
"Hate" is so subjective now, and the fact you say YouTube does NOT do a good job of censoring its content worries me about the authoritarian direction you would want to impose on this fantastic forum.
I am also not for embedding media and such, but for different reasons. I think the text-based system of this board encourages much better dialogue and diction.
Whatever the direction may be, I will fight against any of those that wish to impose vague "hate"- based restrictions on this site, or any other. |
