Injuries are a part of the game. Of course Lakers are screwed if something major happens to Lebron/AD.

-It happened when Kawhi got injured landing on Zaza's foot.
-It happened when CP3 injured his hammy in WCF.
-It happened when KD went down with achilles and Klay ACL
-It happened when Karl Malone got injured in 2004
-It happened when K.Love and Irving got injured in 2015
-It happened last year when Lebron went down

People need to stop talking about "if AD goes down or if Lebron goes down". Obviously that would screw us. It would also screw any other team who is a contender.

If all 30 teams' stars are injured, Lakers will be the champ. Cook, Caruso, Kuzma, etc... are good enough...

No defense and no rebounding

Yet.

Took 6 treys a game and shot worse than Lonzo. That's unacceptable. If he can improve upon that, too, by all means, Kuz. If not, he shouldn't have the green light to chuck that Walton gave him.

Yeah he was pretty bad last year but he wasn't as a rookie. Hopefully it was just a bad season. Not a lot went right for anyone I'm afraid.

First post on here, hello to everyone. I like our team. The pg position is lacking a little bit but I understand there isn't many options considering the last minute circumstances. Everyone is hyping up the Clippers and that's fine, because LeBron and Davis is still the best duo in the NBA. Nice to see more shooting on this team as well. I'm very excited and hope this will be the best Laker season in a long time.

Shoot Like Kobe, some people at LG say in the present tense that "Kobe shot to much ." What's your opinion on that?

Yes, all teams are basically one significant injury (3+ months out) are from missing the playoffs.

My concern with the Lakers team right now is because we have 1 perimeter creator, we are a Lebron 2 week injury away from missing the playoffs. There is really no one else on the roster that can fill that hole of perimeter creator.

All the other teams in the west won't be in the hole because they have multiple high-level ball handlers / creators.

Harden/CP3
Kawhi/PG13/Lou
Lillard / McCollum
Steph / Dlo
Conley / Mitchell
Murray/ Barton / (Jokic even).
Irving/Levert/Dinwiddie

I usually love our teams.
But it's been a hot minute since we've had 2 legit all stars on the team.
And it's possible we could have an all defensive player.
And a 6th man of the year candidate.

I'm hoping for a point guard who can run pnr and can hit 3s and can take charges. Ew. That sounds like Kyle Lowry.

Though Rondo only played 46 games he had 8 assists per game and shot 36% from outside. The man allows you to have a field general out there when LBJ sits and for half the game when James is hurt. I'd love to have another playmaker, but also consider AD and DMC averaged almost 4 assists a game each. As a team they will get it done short term.

Maybe this will help:

LeBron: 35.2 minutes per game and 8.3 assists per game (apg)
Rondo: 29 minutes per game and 8.0 apg

Extrapolated out to assists per minute (apm) equals:

LeBron: 0.235 apm
Rondo: 0.275 apm

Meaning: If Rondo played 35.2mpg he would have averaged 9.7apg!

And with Ball gone, Rondo can get even more minutes!

APM is such an antiquated way to look at a players value.

Ever advanced metric showed Rondo was awful last year. Even if you don't trust advanced metrics, he looked bad on the court.

There was a reason he didn't more than the min.

Yeah, right, APM is an ancient way of looking at things, the ancient Greeks calculated the APM (Arrows Per Minute) that the Persians could launch at Marathon...

you can def. say rondo is on the decline (which is why we could even get him at the minimum) but he is absolutely 100% a solid creator still. I would have loved to have someone elite in there prime as the pg like everyone else but we have to be realistic considering how deep in free agency we already were when we hit plan b.

I will say I don't think rondo is the best fit with lebron and the first unit so i'm hoping he comes off the bench when lebron goes out and plays a few minutes with ad and leads that second unit which I think he can do a solid job of.

If getting 8 assists playing less than 30 minutes with a assist turnover ratio ranging between 2 to 1 and 3 to 1 was so easy...

Why doesn't every mediocre point guard produce these numbers?

I get advanced analytics have value... I get that Rondo shut down for part of last season... but that team was treated like garbage by all accounts.

Do you all work your hardest when your bosses treat you like sh*t?

Rondo gave it all until the Godfather offer... so I'm going to excuse his second half play. Just because he's not a robot who conforms to fan's expectations, doesn't mean he's garbage either.

Field goal percentage... points... rebounds... dimes... all of these basics have value.

I can quote hipster stats of month that have fallen into vogue with the rest of some of you but it doesn't make them gospel.

Getting 8 assists on a poor shooting team with a better than 2 to 1 ratio is still an accomplishment.

He shot his 3 ball 6% better than our young anointed one Kuzma.

Rondo can pass... he's smart... even his shot has improved.

Let's see what happens this season... I want us to develop Caruso and Cook but Rondo will be very valuable during the playoffs.

honestly I give the guys on last years team still here a pass, starting to belive more than before Luke was the problem, Rondo is a winner and has always shown up on winning teams, he regressed when the Lakers regressed as a team, I am willing to give a healthy Rondo and LeBron and AD the benfit of the doubt

I am sorry I dont see how overrated Beverly and Harrell and Lou Will is better than the rest of our team, Lakers have the better team main ingerdient is Vogel needs to step up

Playmaking will not be a problem with the Lakers. With Lebron have best point forward. And Rondo is the greatest playmaker still playing. He can get those assists finally with some shooters.

It is interesting who will be the third option.
Danny Green when hot should be priority. Even first or second option.
Cousins of old would have been it but maybe he can get his game back.
Kuzma, KCP, Cook, Dudley, Daniels, Caruso can all shoot the ball.

I think Kuzma is the clear 3rd scorer on most nights. He was 1st or 2nd option the past 2 years. Any team that averages 70+ ppg from the top 3 will be hard to beat and the Lakers still have Cousins, KCP, Green who will probably score 10+.

AD - 27ppg 13rb
Lebron - 25ppg 10 assist
Kuzma - 21ppg 38% from 3

Love how Pelinka set this team up. We r very versatile.

More defense

Caruso, Green, LBJ, AD, McGee

More offense better space

Cook, Green, LBJ, AD, DC

Small Ball

Cook, Green, LBJ, Kuz, AD

Our bench is dang good also depending on the lineup. Rondo running point in the second unit with DC and Kuz and shooters will be awesome.

Yes and as far as defense, another thing to consider is the number of versatile defenders...Kuzma, LBJ, Davis, and if we develop THT, can guard multiple positions. This is important in today's game because lots of teams use screens and pick and rolls especially to free up 3 points shooters. The Warriors were masters at this. If you have verstaile defenders, this allows players to switch coverage negotiating the effect of the screen.

I like small ball line up a lot. It is quick, can defend and also can shoot like hell. I hope to see it many times next season.

What are you considering a "creator"??

Rondo creates, Kuzma creates basically as much as Kawhi. As far as creating assists go we're ahead of the Clippers easily Rondo > Lou, Bron > PG, Kawhi = Kuz.

If you're talking about creating scoring opportunities for them selves, I get that But we have guys that like AD and Boogie that are great post passers as well as guys like Green, Cook, Daniels and Dudley who are all 40% shooters from 3.

As long as our system is designed to playthrough the post and off PnR we'll be a very good team. Our half court offense should be very good.
