Seems like the bench will need a playmaker. I’m optimistic that he will work his way into that role. Hopefully, they minimize the LeBron/Rondo minutes on the floor together. |

Has he been signed yet?
The Lakers website reports all the players we've signed (or re-signed) except Rondo:

With the addition of Bradley, I don’t see a need for Rondo at all. I’m hoping this deal fell through. We could use another wing defender over rondo. |

Would the Lakers (and Rondo) agree for an Assistant Coach or strategy-guy position? I like his fearlessness and hoops-iq _________________ Starting Lakers Dynasty6.0! NOW!!

Too injury prone. Defensive liability. Shaky 3pt shot. I'd rather have Iggy to play D |

He will be brilliant with AD and Boogie, you haters are welcome to jump on the bandwagon after his first 10+ assist game _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Yeah he can play, it's more his personality that irks me. But if he gets me those 10 assists, I'm good. |

Here’s hoping he’s only called upon for spot duties since AB, Caruso, et al outplay him and warrant more minutes. |

He might not even be in the rotation with all the guys they signed.
Caruso, Bradley, Cook, Daniels are all going to see minutes. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Rajon, if any one of your associates reads this thread... thank you for coming for the minimum.
We will need your leadership and playmaking and I hope you prove everyone wrong.
I hope we compensate you later on down the road by hiring you as a coach or providing you with endorsement opportunities. |

I just hope he accomplishes his goal of being the only player to win titles with the Lakers and that other team. |

It's ironic that he was always known for his defense and not having an outside shot, and how the opposite has been basically true lately. |

Well, the stats with him playing with those two show they were quite a
bit better without him than with him.
He will have excellent moments and look good with AD on offense...but the net impact of this trio (with a healthy Boogie) has actually been pretty bad.
But we do need someone to set the table when LeBron is not playing, but my hopes aren’t up that the numbers will miraculously reverse course. Maybe if we can really pick our spots we can turn Rondo’s minutes into a net positive when he’s on the court. |

Unfortunately, he doesn’t have gravity as a three shooter. He’s definitely better and gets wide open looks most of the time, but not having gravity is what really hurts. The D just takes everything else away and makes it tough on everyone else. |

I’d be happy with him as our 3rd string vet. Seems like the young guys like him but we don’t have many YUTES anymore. Maybe the vets like him but his net rating objectively show he needs to have his playing time reduced. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

DB, he likely won't even be in the rotation now with Bradley, Caruso and Cook.
I am especially intrigued by Cook, this guy can really shoot from what I have seen....if his playmaking and D is just adequate, he could see big minutes. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Me too. Guy's a winner. And in a few years, if Vogel is still around, I look forward to Rajon in a suit on the bench, yelling at Frank about all the stuff he's doing wrong. Lol!

Rondo is one of my favorite players ever since his college days, for years i was hoping that Lakers will trade for him and last summer i was so happy that we signed him.
Now i'm glad that he's staying and hopefully he'll prove all doubters wrong, i will never understand why so many people are against him, he is the floor general that we need, especially if Lebron is resting on the bench. |

I saw this yesterday and since it did not comport with my memory--which can fail me--I looked it up.
In 2017/2018 the Pelicans were 48-34 overall. When Rondo played, they were 41-24, which means they were 7 - 10 without him. Not exactly proof positive, but certainly not proof negative. _________________ "A metronome keeps time by using a Ringo" |

I was worried the front office wasn’t planning to sign another playmaker. My primary option was Jeremy Lin. At least I can see him and Lebron co-operate in some ways. To set the standard very low, at least they noticed this lineup needed another ball handler. It is a good sign. |
