If he can make this team play together with high responsibility and passion would be awesome. I think he is low profile coach which I like a lot. My only concern is Kidd on his staff.

Love his interview. Seems like a great guy. His comments about Kuz and Lebron are great. I hope LBJ is thinking the same and that Vogel is his partner in crime here. That is probably the most important relationship in this squad.

This guy is a mediocre coach. Baffling that he was hired
Why not bring in Tyrone Lue?

Couldn't find anything about Ron Adam's consulting business per VLF's statement - but this did get tweeted out from Summer League on 7/6. Yep, that's a Warriors polo shirt, so looks like he hasn't made a move (yet).

Ty did not agree to the terms that were offered, that disqualified
him. Seems Ty overplayed his hand, he's not that much either.

Has Ron Adams given us a yes or no yet?

I'd like to know this as well.

It was a no. And with signing Rondo and Cousins and the FO micromanaging, I already feel sorry for Vogel.

Where did you see that he said no? Last I saw they were still talking

TBH, I think Vogel might be better than Ty Lue. He seems able to do more with less, that's for sure. Now it remains to be seen what he can do with one genuine All-star, one ageing All-star, and some good depth. A key ingredient here will be LeBron's buy-in and whether he chooses to make this easy for Vogel or whether he chooses to make it hard for Vogel (for whatever reason: they might butt heads over schemes/usage, or he might just want to bring Kidd in as head coach, etc).

If you can't keep an open mind on Vogel and only want to moan about passing on Lue for other non-basketball reasons, we have an Official Piss & Moan Thread.

Glad he said that the starting lineup has not been decided. the Lebron at PG position talk was odd. Even Vogel says he’s primary ball handler, but clearly he can and has done that from the forward position.

The other mentions of note were the benefit of having Boogie allows them to have 5 three point shooters on the floor because “that has has the most succes in the modern NBA.
Also still considers Rondo has a 2 way player providing offense and defense.

Ty Lue was such a great option that he is currently still unemployed.

The only reason you hire Lue was to get him and then have Vogel as an assistant.

Ty had issues with health and stress management. I'm not sure LA's environment s exactly the right fit for him.

Ty had a lucky situation in Cleveland. I don't discount what he did, but if we replace Vogel with Ty during that time, they would still win the chip.

I think Frank will get more out of this squad than Ty would have. Bron has a lot of respect for Vogel from the Miami vs Pacers days, and this is key. Those saying Vogel won't make it through the season are spewing out nonsense. We'll be a top 3 seed, we'll beat the crap out of the Clippers in the playoffs and win the chip this year. Book it.

You can't say they would still win the championship. L ol l. They barely won that one.

It's smart to get Rondo on his side early. He was one of the team leaders last season and will help Vogel communicate with the rest of the team. When people were starting to turn on Luke, Rondo was one of the guys who had his back and was defending him to the media.

Laker coaches since phil have never went against the grain.

Brown was known for good defense/poor offense before joining the lakers. He never changed during his stint here.

The same for Dantoni but in the opposite of brown. Good offense/poor defense who needed specific players to fit his system.

Ditto for Byron. Everyone knew he sucked from his previous stints. Didn't change one bit right down to the being the ultimate "tank commander".

Even with Luke. His biggest criticism before joining the lakers were his rotations sucking even on the 73-warriors team. Warrior fans were livid at his poor rotations, which were was masked by all the winning. This turned out to be true on the lakers as well.

Frank says the right things but I remain skeptical, especially given his staff so far.

Vogel seems reasonable modern-minded so I have to imagine he said this because we’re still in the “everyone on our roster is amazing” sunshine and lollipops part of the offseason more so than that he actually believes Rondo is a 2-way player.

Heck Rondo isn’t even a 1-way player at this point.
