i was feeling pretty good about the backcourt until you laid it out like this.
of course the frontcourt is where it’s at. |
Man our backcourt may be the worst when it comes to offensive fire power. Defensively they look somewhat decent but you have to be a threat offensively to be able to make the opposing backcourt expend energy. |
It will be an interesting test. Front court heavy team in a predominately guard league.
That’s why I think, barring any trade, the bulk of the backcourt minutes need to go to AB/Green. Many top guards in the west. |

I forgot about Dipo too. Damn, that is like the worst haul of nothing for 3 MVP first ballot HOFers, 2 all-stars and a 3 x all defense/2x leader in blocked shots stud role player ever. Literally nothing for all of that.
Ok, I mean he got the corpse of CP3s career for all of that. |

I'm sure with his draft picks he will in succession, draft 3 HOFers like he did with KD/WB/Harden. |
Since drafting Harden in 2009, here’s their draft history.
1sts:
Quincy Pondexter
Craig Brackins
Eric Bledsoe (immediately traded for a future 1st)
Reggie Jackson
Perry Jones
Archie Goodwin
Steven Adams (gave up Harden for this)
Josh Huestis
Mitch McGary
Cameron Payne
Terrence Fergusson
2nds
Magnum Rolle
Alex Abrines
Dakari Johnson
Kevin Hervey
Devon Hall
Enjoy those picks! _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

Would you just admit that every employee of the Spurs goes through Pop's brainwashing cult to be programmed to be both obsessed and filled with Lakers hate? And we know that Pop is really the result of a secret program by Red Auerbach to place an agent in a powerful position to perpetually interfere with the Lakers. This conspiracy goes deep.... |

AD-Cousins-McGee
Gobert-Bradley-Brantley
Nurkic-Whiteside-Collins
Capela-Faried-Clark
WCS-Draymond-Looney
Zubac-Harrell-JaMychal
Jokic-Millsap-Plumlee (MPJ?)'
Aldridge-Metu-Motiejunas
Towns-Dieng-Bell
When that guy listed all the super guard teams... I wondered how their big men were.
Utah's seems like they have only Gobert
People seem to be sleeping on Portland
Houston's isn't good
GSW depends on if WCS has a breakthrough
Clippers is okay but nothing special unless Zubac turns into a beast
Denver's is only good if MPJ breaks out
Spurs only have Aldridge
Timberwolves only have Towns
The key again is Boogie. If he plays like last season... there's no edge with the bigs... if he plays close to his past... we have the best combo.
So Lakers... best big trio? Or will it be Portland or Denver?
Clippers... best wings?
Rockets... best guards? |

This is like hating on guy who lives in a trailer park but managed to sleep with six Playmates of the Year in 8 years but couldn't hold on to them.
Sure it's sad that he couldn't hold on to them... but he lives in a trailer park!
At least he got them to his bed in the first place. I give him credit for that |

GMs don’t play. GMs don’t coach. They just assemble the players and coaches. OKC is a small market team. Houston is bigger, but Les Alexander was not a spender. (Fertitta seems more willing to spend.) If you asked NBA players to rank the cities where they and their families would like to live, Houston and OKC would be in the bottom half.
Against this backdrop, Morey has built and rebuilt the Rockets, and they almost won a title. If you don’t respect that, you’re just being petty. When his moves don’t work (like Dwight Howard), he manages to bounce out of them and keep going. I’m not a Rockets fan even though I live here, but Morey is shrewd.
I’m not as sold on Presti as some people, but I cut him some slack for making a go of it in a city that should not have an NBA team. Westbrook was both a blessing and a curse. But man, if he can dump the Paul contract (I am skeptical), he will have made an impressive exit from the Westbrook era.
So now we get the Harden-Westbrook era in Houston. It could be a train wreck, but it could also be brilliant. I would always bet on Westbrook to make a mess of things. But we shall see. If it goes bad, I won’t be surprised if Morey pulls off another of his Houdini acts. |

How do you mess this up |
If you look into a vacuum you are right. But I followed OKC over the years and it'a a little more complicated.
Westbrook, Durant and Harden played a final together when they were 23y old and lost to Miami trio. Nothing to be ashamed, they were too young and underdogs.
The same year they lost Harden because the owner didn't want to pay the tax. Presti has no other option here.
From 2013-2016 with Durant, Westbrok and Ibaka they had a lot of bad luck. Actually the only year when they were all of them healthy in playoffs was in 2016. And they chocked a 3-1 lead against GSW. For 4 and half games I believed GSW had no chance against OKC. They were more athletic and more agressive. But suddently Klay made a few unbelievable 3-points and Durant and Westbrook chocked massively. And the series was over. In that summer Durnt left for GSW and was over.
It could be the same for Lakers or Clippers if in the next 3 years in the playoffs one of the big boys is hurt. You have no chance.
After my poor opinion Presti made 2 mistakes.
One is his fetish for athleticism. It's not a mistake per se, but he kind a ignore other aspects. For example many of them were bad shooters (Robertson, Grant,Diallo). They were always a team without enough 3-point shooters.
Another thing. They always have at least big contract, who ate their cap (Ibaka, Perkins,Adams) and blocked the possibilty to reshape the roster. Maybe would have better to keep only Westbrook and Durant on big money and the rest of the cap to find the right pieces along them. They never had enough flexibility. |
Giving perkins that ridiculous contract (which prevented harden from subsequently being signed) was Presti's first big mistake. _________________ Starting Lakers Dynasty6.0! NOW!!
