Posted: Jul 20, 2019
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Jordan Caroline, it was announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
In 138 games (135 starts) for Southern Illinois and Nevada, Caroline averaged 14.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 32.9 minutes. The two‐time All‐Mountain West First Team selection and 2018‐19 MWC All‐ Defensive Team honoree left Nevada as Mountain West’s all‐time leader in career rebounds.

Imposes his will with his wide/muscular frame when he takes it to the basket, draws plenty of fouls & gets to the line at a petty high rate. That said, he gets low to the ground when attacking the basket. Despite having over 200 FT attempts, he only shot 63% but still averaged 17 points + 9.6 rebounds/game. Holds the record for most double double’s in Mountain West History with 44 which is 4 ahead of the previous record holders, Kawhi Leonard (San Diego State) & Andrew Bogut (Utah). Also the son of former NFL defensive end Simeon Rice. |
I'm glad the Lakers signed this kid. He played very well in Summer League. He has displayed some skill, hustle & attitude that could allow him to develop into a good defender someday.
IMO he has the energy and athleticism to guard 2, 3 & small-ball 4's.
He'll spend plenty of time developing with the SB Lakers but he has shown that he has potential and good work ethics. His offensive game needs tweaking but his game is well-rounded and he is a willing passer.
He is definitely a welcomed addition to the South Bay Lakers. I would love to see JC being mentored by Metta.
Even if he ends up being nothing more than training camp fodder, it's still a win-win situation for both parties. |

Basically. That summer league team was pretty poor. They
Played below the rim while opposing teams jump out of the
Gym.
I’d not fill a 2 way slot with him. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

I’d not fill a 2 way slot with him. | Of course not; he will have to earn his stripes through considerable time in the G-League. He's nowhere near NBA ready. |
