There is a case for not worrying about adding anymore players to this roster, as the thinking goes, we have a solid team on paper, yet with that same mindset adding Iguodala would cement our team as THE definitive favorite, he is just simply too good of a 2nd unit leader to allow teams to gapclose during spot minutes when the starters are resting, and he is a Finals MVP who would relish a match up with that guy in the locker room across the hall...

Yup i think that's why they kept that last spot open. Now they just need the Grizzlies to buy him out.

Iggy can get traded anywhere if a worth while deal pops up. He'll be an option
but the FO is probably monitoring the market at large at this moment.

From whats being reported, that is whats most likely to happen, AI hasnt talked about where he wants to play, but then again he hasn't denied reports of teams that are finalists to sign him...

I think Grizz will spend all summer looking for a trade. Some team may cough up a 1st for him.

We can't trade for him until 12/15 (when our FAs are eligible to be traded).

Not sure if we have a great chance at getting him. No brainer of course to get him.

I can’t imagine how excited I would be if we added Iggy to our roster.

In terms of value, maybe. But his contract doesn't fit until December when we're able to trade people.

Hopefully he gets bought out. I think in the end, that's what happens.

Can't do that we have no room left to absorb the contract.

I'll be damned if the Clips end up with him.

Iggy cost Lebron a few championships. He’s not young, but he’s in great shape and eats very healthy. Great defender, decent shooter, terrible at FT, great backdoor dunker. Perfect with Lebron IMO.

Good number of teams could be fits. Both LA teams, Houston, Philly, maybe Denver, maybe Miami. If he gets bought out I think we're the leaders. In trade, you're probably going to see teams offering salary plus 2nds. Memphis is going to want less salary and a first. I don't expect they get a first though.

Vet's min is 2.6m.

Other teams may have a full room exception, etc.

Does a few extra million matter more? Role?

Could Ballmer promise to hook up Iggy with more tech connections? So many questions.

In that scenario, we have to take on his salary and send out matching salary. Unless you want to move LeBron, that ain't happening until at least December 15 ... and even then, who are you moving to match that 17?

I suspect fans of every contending team (Clippers, Rockets, Bucks, 76ers primarily) are putting up threads like this, salivating about the idea of Iggy being bought out and joining their team.

Memphis has been trying to trade him. If they don't find something they like by the start of the season, it's anyone's guess whether they buy him out or wait it out until the trade deadline in March in case teams get injuries or become desperate.

Given that Memphis is close to the minimum team salary now, they really don't get much benefit from buying him out. Any money they save will be pretty minimal, so it would mostly be a case if they think having him around is bad for team. I don't think anyone has an accurate handle on their thoughts about that.

We probably won't have the salaries and assets to get him in a trade, and if we do it won't be before December, so our greatest chance is if he gets bought out.

If that happens, we'll be standing in line with the Clippers, the Rockets, the Bucks, the 76ers, and pretty much every other contender who will offer him a roster spot. I doubt anyone has a strong sense which team he would favor if the choice is his.

Our hopes of him getting bought out might turn against us if he picks another suiter. And some people also question how much he has in the tank; the reality of getting Iggy might not be as good as the fantasy of having him on the team.

Bottom line: It's great if we land him, but I wouldn't wait on that or count on that.

I wouldn't think a few extra million would matter at this point in his career. He's close with Palinka. If the Lakers truly are keeping the spot open for Iggy then it's probably because they already know he wants to come.

I wonder if he's another "I want to beat LBJ, not be with LBJ" guy.

Why would a team trade something for him just to buy him out?

Now that it is out there, do not see the league allowing him to land on the Lakers. Some competitive team will step up and trade for him.

What if Iggy only wants to come to the Lakers does a team still end up trading for him? I kinda find it odd that Igoudala is linked with the Lakers despite the fact that we don’t have the assets to trade for him.

He's a veteran role player. They normally don't think like that. He's at the point in his career where he's gonna go where it makes him happy.

He's already been on the team that has beaten and been beaten by Lebron. He has nothing left to prove. The only thing he hasn't experienced is playing alongside.

I doubt anyone much cares what Iggy wants. Only a contending team would give up assets for him. And if a contending team trades for Iggy, he'll honor his contract and play for them, even if it's not his top destination.

But it's a hard trade, because his salary is so big. Not many contending teams have an extra $17 million in salaries of guys they want to give up.

A 35 year old, almost washed role player. I'm not that excited. I'm more excited for Giannis brother.
