But not the work ethic. Kobe had it all: the mentality, skills and work ethic. In fact, he had an over abundance of work ethic. Kobe was a psychotic robot.

That mental toughness was beyond human. Injuries that would sideline the usual NBA player wasn't going to stop Kobe. He took it like a terminator: knock him down, he gets back up. He even played in the 2010 Finals with an avulsion fracture on the index finger of his shooting hand.

Akin to Walter Payton and Jerry Rice.

Growing up as a little boy in Italy his grandparents mailed him VHS tapes of all the Lakers games

He would watch them and immediately find a hoop and start practicing

If we're making football comparisons, Ronnie Lott has to be at the top of the list.

I have to disagree with Jerry. They don’t have Kobe’s skill nor his mentality.

Kobe wouldn’t have his mentality without his skills, simple as that.

The only guy who comes close to Kobe’s mentality and skill is Kyrie Irving.

Why did players not gravitate to Kobe.. He was A PROFESSIONAL

After games they wanted to go search for groupies and get drunk..

He studied tapes and more tapes.. tapes of last game.. upcoming game.. individual players.. and prepared for the next game

His right shoulder injured.. he began learning to shoot with his left hand. Got tips from Duncan even.

Phil Jackson told him early in his career to dial back the dunks if he wanted to keep his knees in the future.. he did.

On the bench with an IV during timeouts after a Sacramento fan or a burger gave him food poisoning..

20 year career
Scored 60 points in his final game

This has been a long time coming. But (bleep) Jerry West. Tired of seeing his name in the Lounge. For good measure, screw you Kawhi and PG13 as well. Hope you both blow out your knees. Matter fact, scratch that. I hope they stay healthy. I don't want any excuses when we squash them in the playoffs.

His mentality drove him to develop the skill.
