What stands out to me is something that happens to many times. A parent does not keep a eye on a child. As a youngster when my mother took me and my sisters shopping we'd be on leashes. Nowadays that may not be something some would consider good parenting. In a busy public area I think it's fine. We didn't pull things off shelves or annoy other shoppers and we never, ever got lost.

you mean a leash that was connected to your wrist or belt loop, right?

you mean a leash that was connected to your wrist or belt loop, right?

It was like a harness. It fit over the shoulders. On the back there was a hook that a leash was attached to. THIS is what I'm talking about. It's a modern version of the leash my mother used. It illustrates the idea.
