Lakers should sign Joe Johnson instead of waiting on Iggy. He has the body type to defend Kawhi and he’s not useless on the offensive end.

The guy is playing in the Big 3 league which is a retirement home for NBA players he is done playing basketball in the NBA.

Have you seen him play? No so don’t make that assumption. He’s still a good role player.

Just curious has there been any recent history of Big 3 players going back to the NBA? I know Amare and Monta Ellis have tried going back but so far no luck in finding a home in the NBA.

I have no idea but being out of the league isn’t an indication of you not being able to play. Melo is currently out are you telling me that there’s 450 players in the nba that’s better than him?

Being out of the league is a good indication that no team wants you

You are isolating on one thing (ability to play) while teams have to consider multiple things when deciding which player to add to the roster.

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering about buy outs and the CBA. If player X makes 25 million, and gives back 10 million, only 15 million is going on the teams cap? Is that correct?

67. How do buyouts affect team salary?

Quote:

Any guaranteed salary still owed to the player as the result of a buyout continues to be included in team salary, just as with any waived player. See question number 65 for details.

In your example

$10,000,000 / $25,000,000 = 40%

A player giving up 40% of guaranteed money seldom happens.

Yup, when based purely on skill and potential even at his age he is obviously better then many players still but when you factor in his massively oversized ego which he still displays brightly even in recent interviews on top of his heavy decline equals to me at least that he has more potential to be yet another failure then a success.. Lakers already have enough to workout this season, they do not need a mediocre over the hill drama ridden journeyman who's half a decade out from once being a good player. That's without even bringing up his defense which he would easily be the worst on the roster by quite a large margin. Easy pass for pretty much every team imo.

Not that this matchup matters in the playoffs but I just realized how garbage Boston's front court is, the Lakers might blow them out spamming our front court.

I really wanna see a dominating blowout win against the Celtics this year

Why do I get the feeling this may have been an important factor to him while considering where to sign.

It doesn’t matter because it’s still illegal in the NBA.

If by any chance both Allen Crabbe and Jae Crowder get bought out who would you choose for the final roster spot?

Crowder. We need a wing defender.

Crowder but I'd also strongly consider cutting someone for Crabbe

However, neither are getting bought out so its kind of a moot point.... no?
