would be fun; mainly if the guards can play close to their potential. Really good defensive lineup

That’s my lineup if Kuz struggles defensively. Caruso brings another decent playmaker into the mix.

Imo it’s going to be important for the Lakers to have 2 of Green/Bradley/Caruso to close games.

This is a huge year for Kuz. Lakers have shipped out/renounced players post 3rd years recently.

I don't think (or hope they don't) they will Jordan Clarkson him contract-wise if he doesn't perform. Yes, he's a steal right now at his current salary, but when he is up for an extension in a few years...whoa.

That's the true death lineup.

Kuz at the three is just as bad defensively as Kuz at the four. This is my biggest issue with having Kuz. I know I’ve seen the talk of his defensive improvement but I heard about it last year too. So u til he proves me wrong I’m seeing him on the floor as a negative defensively as a closer.

Yeah. Ball is in Kuz's court to show us he can be in a true closing lineup against playoff caliber teams.

Watching him the last two years (and on team USA), he really seems like he should be covering 3s. I fear he may be a tweener combo forward that will always have issues defending either position - too slow for 3s, not strong enough for 4/5s - and maybe he should focus on bulking up so that he can actually guard stronger players.

He's sort of stuck in Rashard Lewis land body-wise.

I think his best success would be to cover SFs actually. His PF defense is atrocious and simply bulking up may not be the answer.

I agree with you that he should probably focus on covering 3s, but he's going to be an exploited cover when offenses try to switch him up or down. I really want to believe that his D can improve, but my goal for him this year is to be neutral on D and for his 3PT% to be above league average (overall increased efficiency).

I was discussing with a friend what kind of deal Kuz will get when he's a free agent and I'm not sure.

He feels like a guy that will be overpaid by someone, just not sure if it's us.

Thankfully it's not for a few years. But yes, there is a possibly Jordan Clarkson level deal out there.

The YUTES are great up until the point they have to get paid and then folks start looking at them differently. He makes pennies on the dollar given his production on court so I'll enjoy that for now.

Hey, all this talk about AD not wanting to play center made me wonder a couple of things:

Does he simply NOT want to be called a Center or a 5?

Or does he not want to be matched-up against guys bigger and heavier than he is?

I think its all about match-ups and who AD is being matched-up against..

So if the opposing teams Center is smaller (Shorter - Lighter) than AD, will he be ok playing against him?

AD is soft, his body could break down with constant contact. It is smart to play him on the perimeter as much as possible.

You should hang out with smarter people. Tell us why AD doesn’t want to play center.

Just because he doesn’t want to play C that doesn’t make him soft, the guy plays with fire and passion on a game basis. and he already said he will play more C during the playoffs.

Same reason Tim Duncan didn't want to play Center.

Duncan played center the majority of his career. So has AD actually.

Such as Dray or Trez whom AD should be able too abuse if he gets any spurts as a small ball center supreme.

Has anyone called Kobe or Lebron soft? It seems like it's mostly restricted to skilled bigs like KAJ, Vlade, Pau, and I guess somehow Anthony Davis.

To maximize his value and the value of the teams the Lakers can build around him going forward he needs to commit to playing more minutes at C. The Lakers can't afford to spin their wheels for years trying to find AD the perfect twin tower running mate like the Pelicans tried and failed to do, especially with Kuzma providing wing skills at PF.

AD, Kuz, and Lebron should get at least 20 minutes on the court together in most games, imo, which means 20 minutes minimum at C for AD.
