I haven't been upset about roster construction like this in a long time.
Since last season, no?
Pretty much.
Bigger issue is still a wing defender or two. Or hell, a real point guard.
Star chasing left a lot of holes with how this FO used their resources.
I'm all aboard the Caruso train.
It's eerily perfect on how much this roster needs a healthy Iguodala to be in realistic championship contention. _________________ Under New Management

Even Caruso struggles against ball pressure. To me, he's a classic combo guard, but is at least capable of defending 1s, so he should have an NBA job.
Personally, I would have been fine blowing the cap money between Delon Wright and Danny Green, adding Boogie and JaVale afterwards, and then merry mins, but LAL had to have ties with KCP and Rondo.
I just see a bunch of guards where LAL is lucky to breakeven scorewise with only 1 star on the floor when the subs are in.
Would have been FAR happier with a strong 5-7 set players, and then merry mins.
Really hope KCP and Kuzma play consistently well. They're now too important. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I'd call it AD appeasement more than star chasing. Their hands are tied to go big. I also have a hard time believing Dwight's name value was anything positive for him in this specific and unique circumstance.

No, the FO panicked with his signing. The smart move would have been to wait until teams trim their rosters. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

he is non guaranteed. you can always cut him and pick up somebody else if they are available. At the worst case we need a body until Dec 15 when we can trade some of the pieces we signed during the offseason.
i am not "happy". but i am ok with this signing, we were shopping in the clearance section anyway.

Which lends agreement to Mike’s point, poor roster construction. Reactive instead of being proactive. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

its whatever. the FO has built a pretty good roster. out of the the 3 bigs they were working out dh probably has most upside. if ad/bron are relatively healthy all year and playoffs we will win ring.
I'm ok with the signing. They needed a big body that shares the load. Defensively and on the boards Dwight is still good. He can score off alleyoops and lobs. He'll be a better Tyson Chandler for the Lakers.
Now in the locker room and off the court, he can be a distraction, but maybe he's learned a thing or two for the positive. He won't be the reason the Lakers fail (if they do.. I'm more optimistic about this).
Too much over reaction here. I hated when he left for nothing, but he didn't owe the Lakers anything. Laker should've hired old Phil over D'Antoni anyhow.

Once a loser, always a loser. Not to mention a really bad guy in the locker room! If the Lakers accomplish anything of note this season it will be in spite of Coward's presence, not because of it.

Or Dudley.
Lebron at the 5 is probably never happening in the regular season.
This is one of those low risk, high reward type of signing. An average Dwight is miles better than McGee at his best, so no I don’t mind this signing at all

I think this is why I hate super established veterans.
Inflexibility.
I just feel like the upside for the roster is almost all tapped out, with any real improvement being incremental and no one really expected to make leaps. LAL had a BUNCH of guys the past few years capable of that, but now it's all traded away.
I know I have a different view on how I want the roster developed and it may not win rings right away, but at least the team would establish some kind of identity on the floor, and that's been missing since 2010. _________________ Resident Car Nut.
