We've got an aging HOF-er coming off his 1st significant injury yet still producing MVP-level numbers, combining for the 1st time with an MVP-level, multi-skilled center smack dab in his prime, along with a heavily-overhauled team. Question is, who should be the leading scorer for this team?
When Magic took over as #1, it was after playing 7 years with Kareem, so the transition made logical sense.
In the 3peat, Shaq was the unquestioned Big Dog, but neither Shaq nor Kobe worked toward a smooth transition after the 3-peat. They never really figured out how to hand the reins over, as Kobe wasn't the unquestioned #1 guy until Shaq was traded after their 8 years together.
When Pau was brought in, it was clear he was #2 to Kobe, and he was exceedingly good at it.
But now? What scenario gives us the best shot to win it all THIS YEAR? |

AD IMO.
we are better off if Lebron increases his assists per game totals while his ppg slightly decreases. |

AD has outscored LeBron per 36 minutes each of the past 3 years --- and AD is just entering his prime whereas LeBron is exiting his. If AD does *not* outscore LeBron, it may mean he is injured, or having to sit a lot, or some other problem. I say AD. |

I think AD will be our leading scorer. I can see LBJ setting him up for an MVP run (the year b/f he hits FA). LBJ knows if he can't keep AD here, his chances of getting a ring are over.
I think AD will be in the 28-29ppg range, while LBJ is in the 26-27ppg range. Won't be THAT much of a difference. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

AD as the leading scorer, but LBJ leads on the 4th imo. _________________ "It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up."-The Greatest |

Like Pau, AD is a #2, but I’m not sure how that will translate to scoring averages. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

This ADs time now. In his prime. The best big man in the nba. The "focal point" of the team. Lbj entering the end of his prime. Its gotta be AD.
I think the leadership role still falls on lbj till AD learns from him how to win, but scoring wise it should be AD and soon after that AD needs to take the reins from lebron possibly after this season in the leadership role as well. |

AD has to be our best player if we're winning the chip. _________________

They both matter.
Who cares if he plays 82 games if he averages 10 ppg. If that happens we suck. |

I honestly don’t think it’s important. Gail Goodrich led the 1972 team in scoring. Byron Scott led the 1988 team in scoring. |

I think AD will have his best year in scoring while Lebron while have his best year in assists.
Plus I hear AD his worked on his 3 pointer all summer. So if AD starts hitting his 3 plus lobs, plus PnR..forget about it!!! |

I can say though, that IF Kuzma is the leading scorer, we are either screwed (as everyone is injured) or we are locked for a championship.
Think about that:
Bron 25/11
AD 25/11/3/2
Kuz 35/4/3

I think the question is irrelevant.
If LeBron and AD each make it easy for the other to score at will throughout the season and playoffs, good for the Lakers. |

AD still has got a lot to prove since he hasn't been that exceptional in the playoffs so far in his career. Lebron, is well, going to be Lebron like usual. We know he's gonna bring it because he's that consistent. AD would have to be beastmod3 AD in the playoffs because his time is now. _________________ LeGoat! LeMazing! LeGend! |

This is so unimportant actually. The only good thing that comes from this is that with all this attention going to LBJ & AD, those shooters we now have, will have plenty of space to operate in.
The only thing I care about is the team building positive chemistry that leads to W's. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

I chose AD because I hope that we are crushing teams every night and LeBron is able to spend 4th quarters resting. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |

Our secondary scoring options were inconsistent last year. It was either BI or Kuz having a good-ish night. BI certainly had a nice run for a period of time, but not throughout the whole season.
It'll be nice having a reliable 30ppg level scorer in AD next to LBJ who averaged 27ppg on last year's team. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

The question is, who is going to play perimeter defense? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

That's our biggest weakness.
The HOPE is that Bradley can return to Celtic form (not sure about that).
Green is already a very good defender, and then it's nothing after that. KCP in theory can be but he only gets interested when games no longer matter. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

This crossed my mind.
If he’s within 5 ppg of AD/Lebron 👀
Something like 21-23 ppg. |
