It would be a real shame to bring in Penny. If he contributed nothing he would be as good as Shammond and Mckie. If Phil and Mitch feel he can help this team then they will waive one of those, hopefully McKie and bring Penny in. Like I said when you are getting nothing out of McKie, what could it hurt other then a little of Buss' money, but if it worked it would be worth it. If it doesn't work and he contributes nothing, then the Lakers are no worse off than with McKie.

Can he be any worse than McKie/Shammond? Cut one or both of those guys and add Penny, why not? Hell, I bet he'd get minutes over Sasha too.

Again, if all you're doing is replacing McKie, it's a waste of time and money. McKie doesn't play. Penny comes in, who's playing time does he take? Mo's? Farmar's? Smush is the starter. That's not changing. Luke? Nope. Does anyone really think Penny's gonna be happy sitting on the bench or playing sparce minutes in garbage time?

The Lakers (or Phil to be exact) may be looking at him, but it doesn't appear to be anything serious.

No. Sasha has seemingly turned the corner a little bit. I'm liking his development and wouldn't want some old fogey taking his minutes.

If he replaces McKie and is better than him, then he would play. If he isn't any better than McKie then they should be aware of that and not sign him. I assume they watched him at a tryout or something. At least that is what was said when I was in Orlando earlier. I got to see the Lakers beat the Magic and it was sweet. My entire section except for 10 or so were Laker fans.
