From this jaded laker die hard that said no to bring back Dwight. I forgive perceived past transgressions against the purple and gold. I welcome you back formally, Dwight. Bring back the joy in your game.

Dude can scowl Batman-style all year long as long as he keeps doing the blue collar dirty work this team needs from him.

So far so good as preseason ends. Dwight played 18 minutes, avergard 8.4 ppg and lead the team in rebounding at 8.6 rpg...while shooting 60%. McGee played 17 minutes, averaged 9.6 ppg and 7.4 rpg while shooting 71%. If our center position combines for 15 ppg and 15 rpg while shooting 65%, I would a call it a great success.

They will feast on many teams. The only times we will have issues is on defense when teams have a combination of a very talented perimeter big man and a guard that is very talented from outside, so that a very good stretch big man that can set picks and then either be a shooter or driver - combined with a great ballhandling guard.

Looking at the West though - I don't see that combo, outside of maybe Dallas? Houston's bigs are not great at this. Their guards are superb. Clippers. Zubac and co. do not really do much in terms of stretching the floor after setting a screen. Harrell can cause some chaos, but again not really a star. Denver with Jokic. Really good big man, but won't cause you to pay for leaving him on the 3 point line or coming late back to him on a screen.

If Dallas moves KP to the 5 in games and then has Luka play point, with 3 good shooters around then, that kind of combo would need us to bench McGee/Dwight for AD at the 5.

If Houston or the Clippers trade for a talented big man that is a 3 point threat and then also a driving threat on dribble penetration .... that's worrisome. Outside of that ... I think we'll reap the benefits of McGee/Howard.

15 and 15 with solid rim protection throughout the game? Sounds great.

In addition to waiving Thomas Bryant, we could've drafted Mitchell Robinson last year instead of Mo Wagner.

I saw Robinson in the Knicks game last night. He's aggressive and has a nice motor.

I think Kostas has as much potential as any of Mitchell, Zu and Bryant. Not quite as much offensive upside as Bryant but he flashes some really nice defensive instincts. Not to mention the political benefit of having Kostas, Kobe and Kidd to recruit Giannis down the line.

During our quest for our next championship there will also be a few notable milestones that Dwight Howard can reach this season.

* Dwight Howard (13,184 career rebounds) is the No. 14 rebounder in NBA history. Howard could pass Hakeem Olajuwon (13,748) for 13th place and Wes Unseld (13,769) for 12th place this season.

* Dwight Howard (2051 career blocks, 2.0 blocks pg.) is ranked 17th all time in blocked shot and can climb as high as 13th place this season.

Good Luck #DH39 ......... GO LAKERS!!

I don't think he has to average a double-double to have an impact. That would be a grand slam, though.

Agreed, set screens, block out, block shots, pass- that is how DH will help us win.

His demeanor in the clubhouse will also go a long way.

He can't move in space well enough anymore to earn minutes against PnR initiators as good as Lou and Kawhi.

DH should have played more with AD on the court.
We did not make more out of the size advantage. With both of them on the court, we had a big run in the 3rd to come back to 85:85

If AD plays with another big, we're playing to our advantage

This. To bad he got some BS foul calls, because it looked like he was going to have a good game. Very energetic and looked strong.

Dwight brings different things than McGee. Both are assets to the team, especially at the price tag.

The problem was AD played a little like a black hole last night and did not look to pass when help came. He was on a mission to prove himself. It is ok since it was a big game and televised and his official debut, but if we want to take advantage of our size and length - AD has to move the ball quicker.

I totally agree, but at the same time, I really like Dwight running with the second unit.
