College basketball kicks off today, and it also serves as a defacto beginning of the draft prospect evaluations for many fans. The Lakers own their 2020 1st Round pick and are unable to trade the pick before the draft because of the Stepien Rule. It "should" fall in the #24 - #30 range.

Some of the best free draft content can be found at The Stepien. Also Sam Vecenie provides excellent coverage at The Athletic and Givony does @ ESPN and ESPN+.

I have been relieved in recent months that WVU Freshman and McDonald's All American Oscar Tshiebwe has not been showing up on any of the mock drafts. Still, I had a feeling it would not last long....and of course The Stepien updated their tiers and included Tshiebwe in their Tier 2....then follow it up with an article/podcast listing Tshiebwe as the top prospect in the Big12.

https://www.thestepien.com/2019/11/04/big-12-prospects-interview-michael-visenberg/

I finally got to see Oscar suit up and play against college competition last week in a exhibition game between WVU and Duquesne. Oscar is everything he was advertised to be and more. He has a long way to go in developing his overall game, but he is a freakish athlete for a big man and plays with a motor at a level I have never seen matched.

You will be adding more links to the OP such as for mock drafts throughout the season so that it can serve a a repository for things draft related?

Sure, hopefully others will add links and content as they come across it also.

Not sure if the content will be improved, but NBADraft.net has recently been redoing their site completely. It has to be the first major overhaul in over a decade. Also, Tankathon continues with their mock draft.

Lakers 2020 pick isn't traded at all

1. Lakers owe the Pelicans the 2021 first round pick if it's 1-8 only, otherwise it becomes a 2022 first round pick

2. 2023 the Pelicans can swap firsts with the Lakers

3. Lakers owe the Pelicans a first rounder in 2024, but the Pelicans can defer that pick to 2025

Note: Lakers cannot trade the 2020 pick until draft night because of future trade obligations. So it is not an asset for player acquisitions this year.

Note: Lakers do not have a 2023 second round pick until 2023

I’m interested in Nico Mannion. Read about him a few years ago and though he was an intriguing prospect most likely because I thought the nickname “Ginga Ninja” was both cool and hilarious. He’s a freshman at Arizona.

Not an athlete and arms are very short.
To make it in the league he better be special in one area. Not sure he is.

I wonder if buying 2nds is still as easy as it was a few years ago.

You just said his arms are very short. That’s pretty special

Lakers can use a high energy guard or wing who can attack off the dribble with defensive potential. Right now the only Laker who is a consistent threat of taking any player off the dribble from the perimeter and efficiently finishing in traffic at the hoop is Lebron and he is slowing down at that.

Is he not athletic? I remember watching some highlights of him and he seemed to have some pretty good ups

Buying late seconds?
It will probably not be too difficult.

Buying early seconds?
It will probably will be difficult.

Anyone have an opinion on Cassius Winston as an NBA player? He is projected to be a 2nd Round pick in most mocks, but I will not be surprised if he finds his way into the late 1st if he has the NPOY type season most expect.

Any good guards out there late in the 1st round?

We need to hit a homerun in this draft.

right now he is getting mocked in the 15-20 range, but Tyrese Haliburton (Iowa State) would fit like a glove with the way the team is currently constructed. He is a 6'5" PG...very efficient, low usage good shooter.

Beyond that, there are some PG's being mocked in the late 1st Round....Devon Dotson (Kansas), Tre Jones (Duke) and Ashton Hagans (Kentucky).

Potential #1 Pick Cole Anthony had a huge debut for UNC in a win over Notre Dame....34 Points, 11 Rebounds and 5 Assists

**most points ever scored in a Freshman debut in ACC
**most points ever scored by a UNC freshman
