This is what I'm talking about. His ability to cover ground and contest shooters into difficult attempts is very over-looked imo.

Like having 6 players on defense . He would've contested that corner 3 too if they opted to pass it there.

Absolutely. He can protect the rim and defend perimeter players. You hear if Great rim protectors and great perimeter defenders. But how many players can do both great. And i have seen him guard quick players and is still able to meet them at the rim if they try to go around him.

So basically he can guard any position. I have seen many times players look Open at the 3 and he closes out on them so quick that the shot ends up being contested or blocked.

I read the last night game out of 18 shots he contested only 1 was made. And that is partly because players think they are open but because he closes out so fast and his hugh length, it ends being a brick.

If I was the coach, I would tell my players if AD is closing out on you or guarding you, don’t take the shot even if you think you are Open.

I’m joking. I could care less about the young guys we traded.

Better defender: AD or prime Dwight?

In terms of versatility, AD wins. In terms of being a defensive anchor in the paint and accolades, Dwight wins. I think AD is more likely to get bullied and outplayed in the paint by bigger Centers like Embiid. I have never seen Dwight bullied by anyone in the paint.

It's nearly impossible to play zone against the Lakers with AD on the floor. He can step into the open spot, at the top of the key, and either drain the jumper of throw the lob to McGee.

It's unreal just how important AD is to the team. We need him to commit and we can build around him for the next decade

How about the trades we can’t make because NO owns our draft? We could get Iggy for a first but we don’t have a first.

No team is giving up a first for Iggy. It would have been done by now.

And chances are you would blast Pelinka for overpaying and yes it would be an overpay.

I would definitely give up a future first for Iggy. Just as I wanted to give up a couple of young players for PG and then for AD.

And you are like the dude who buries his head in the sand. We need to improve and those future picks could be a currency. I don’t care about giving up the young players for AD, it was a good move. Allowing NO to control our draft wasn’t.

The irony is that if/when we get Iggy, we're not going to have to give up anything.

No contender is taking on that contract.

In February and for a draft pick? There won’t be much contact left.

I was willing to give up Zubac and A 2nd round pick for AD. Can’t see why Pelicans would refuse. FakeLakerFan logic

No contending team is matching salaries for Iggy. They will undoubtedly give up more then they receive.
