At the end of the day that’s all that matters, and it’s how lebron will be judged. If he ends his career 3-7 or 3-8 in the finals, you won’t hear anyone talking about his PPG or total career points. Meaningless.

I hope most people are smart enough to disregard finals record discussions which make no sense.

It is not a big deal. LeBron has had a team to himself since he entered the league. Kobe played 7mpg in his first season and came off the bench. There are tons of variables.

The only thing that will be a “big deal” is whether LeBron wins or loses a championship.

This is LA, we count rings not points.

I don't think it's a big deal unless someone passes Cap, but even if you eliminate Kobe's 2nd-3rd option years and only focus on when it was his team, he would still trail LeBron in scoring.

He's way ahead of Hakeem, though. And that's all that matters.

In your mind, sure. I hope that brings you fulfilment.

In reality too. Hakeem is outside of the Top 10 scoring.

Oh, as far as scoring. Yes, he's way ahead of Hakeem.

As far as everything, really. Scoring, winning, greatness.

Hell, Kobe's post Shaq career alone is equal to Hakeem's entire career.

He won his two "the man' rings just like Dream except he didn't do it while Duncan was taking a sabbatical.

Nah. When he finishes in the top 10 in scoring and assists, you will hear about it a lot actually. Especially if he decides/is able to play long enough to catch Cap.

He’s not ahead of Hakeem on height, therefore not everything? Haha

You guys are right. Lebron could finish 3-9 in the finals and they’ll rave about his total points. That’s what they do with Malone too. Got it 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Malone didn't lead teams to more titles than anyone not named Russell, Jordan, Duncan, Kareem, Magic, Bird or Shaq.

Actually curious to see how big or how close the differences in ppg on ‘prime’ seasons of only.
MJ minus Wizard
Wilt minus ?last couple seasons?
Kobe full time starting minus post-Achilles
LeBron minus rookie year
KD minus rookie year
AI minus post Denver

Any site has this?

Easy to calculate.

Hard to get consensus on “prime”.

You know how to do this? Can you? Start with my definition of prime (except Wilt, not sure how many of his last seasons I should omit)

Here you go:

MJ: 31.42 PPG
KD: 27.72 PPG
AI: 27.70 PPG
LBJ: 27.56 PPG
Kobe: 27.42 PPG

All extremely close except for MJ.

Harden as a Rocket...29.4.

Confirmed.

Forgot Harden, he def in that list

To be fair, not much in here is a goat discussion. It’s a foat discussion.

Bird and Kareem have two finals MVPs. Same as Kobe. Your list seems weirdly biased.

His record in the finals will count against him. That’s just a fact whether you like it or not.

These guys aren’t remembered for their statistical records. They’re remembered for winning or losing and in my opinion LBJ can’t afford to lose anymore especially considering the insane amount of talent he has been fortunate enough to play with.

Arguing this on the Internet is useless. We’ll have our answer in a few years.

Which is exactly why things like scoring more than anyone else gets discussed, to separate those type of players...

The only qualifier in that response is did you lead your team to 3 titles or not, which LeBron has done (and Malone hasn't...once). Are you arguing that Bird and Kareem did not lead their teams to at least 3 titles?

Just because people do something, doesn’t mean it makes any sense or is good.

The finals record discussion is about as simpleton as the “but but plus/minus” crowd. Lol. Basically it’s “me like” or “me don’t like” disguised as analysis and the worst part is those out there that use it think it is analysis. Haha.

Glad we are better than that here on LG. I hope. Heh.

I don’t see anyone using points to separate the players in the goat discussions , haven’t seen that anywhere (except maybe on forums).

People use statistical benchmarks, awards won, other accolades, to argue for these guys all the time. Please link me to any list/discussion/ranking that lists titles won and nothing else.
