Lakers Trade Chris Mihm ,McKie ,Kwame Brown ,Jordan Farmar

Lakers Receive - Jason Kidd and Hassan Adams

I know fans like Jordan's game, but what if the Nets insisted on getting a young PG with upside in return. Would you really turn down the trade in order to keep Farmar. I mean you got to give a little to get back. Kidd is averaging 19.6 , 9 assist 8 rebounds his last 12 games. He is at the top off his game right now.

C Bynum
PF Lamar
SF Luke
G Kobe
G Kidd

Smush ,Turiaf,Cook ,Mo Evans, Sasha ,Hassan Adams ,Rad off the bench.

Nope...keep Mihm and throw in Cook + Shammond instead. With Kwame gone I'd like to keep Mihm as our future backup C.

Would need to find a way to get another big man though. Maybe we could convince them to package Mikki Moore in the deal.

Id do that. Thats a good idea. Mihm could re-sign in the offseason and come back healthy next year. I think the Nets might insist on Farmar part of the package though.

Nope. I don't like giving up both Mihm and Kwame (though I guess that would be necessary) nor do I like giving up Farmar. In fact, given Farmar's age, I would make him the deal-breaker. I would much rather give them Smush. He wouldn't like his demotion once Kidd got here anyway, and Kidd could be a great tutor for Farmar. Mihm you could trade and then simply sign next season.

So, would NJ do a deal essentially for Kwame and Smush? What if we threw in a pick? Not sure they would do that to be honest, but in a few years Farmar will be a very coveted player, while Kidd will be a coveted talking head on TNT.

Kidd right now could very well be better than Farmar at his peak.

I agree Ventura, but what about in 2 years. Even if Farmar will never be better than Kidd right now, I'm betting that he'll be better than him at that point. Ok maybe 3 years. But you get my point...

If they do a Kidd deal, Adams is a nice throw in. The key would be to deal one of their own shooters (Cook or Vlad) for a backup PF/C, but you may have to give up your 1st rounder to get that player. It looks nice for the short term, but if they want to extend Walton and try and target a real PF/C with the MLE they'll have to pay luxury tax. They'll also have to use a high pick on an eventual replacement to Kidd as well. I'm not saying either way that I'd make the deal, I'm just saying that they'd have to make another move to replace Kwame...no matter what they did without him.

Then you get another PG then. While it is certainly prudent for a team to think long term, if you have a opportunity to improve dramatically in the near term, you do it. I like Jordan's game a lot, but I hardly think he's irreplaceable.

I like Farmar, but it isn't like there won't be similar skilled PGs available in the next few seasons.

Kind of makes you wonder about the Nets opinion of Williams, doesn't it.
