If you miss the walls of text, you’ll find them in the General Basketball Discussion thread, still proclaiming Randle to be amazing.

I miss the “AD will not sign with us this summer and we’ll be doomed”.

God. People were mad when we let Randle walk even though we were getting Lebron. 45 year old Lebron will be better than Randle in his prime.

26% from 3, defensive liability Julius Randle?

Yeah, hard pass.

Wiley and Winlock on the same show lol. Man, I feel sorry for Jim Jackson.

Or you have the posters who make stuff up and then complain about what they made up.

I love AD as a Pelican and as a Laker, but that is flat out silly.

No doubt.
Shaq would get deep in the paint and shoot 80% or more Lol.
And probably foul AD out in the process

What rules are we playing with? When illegal defense restrictions weren't enforced properly by the refs, Shaq struggled on the road against Vlade and Sabonis...in his MVP season.

So if the game is called correctly then he’d be golden, yes?
AD would be so winded having to check Shaq in the post he’d have no legs for those jumpers in the 4th. That’s how I see it, anyway

think u misinterpreted what 5.0 was saying!!

Fair enough. Enlighten me

OP made a good comparison: 99-00 Lakers-Blazers compared with 19-20 Lakers-Clips. My point was that our two headed monster now compares well with our two headed monster then! Specifically what AD gives us now compares well with what Shaq gave us then.

Understood 👍

All good my co-lakers-fan! Just glad, VLF didn't take umbrage at what I thought ESPN could do with "my" gap!!

I will leave you to your own insecurities

People understood that one had nothing to do with the other. Evidently not everyone. It was a dumb move no matter how you try to dress it up.

While Randle was playing with us, I thought he was an above average defender. And I thought Lonzo and Ingram were elite.

After looking at guys like AD, Avery, Green and even Dudley on a near daily basis, and taking closer looks at guys like Kawhi, Siakim, etc., our (former) youth really had a long, long way to go.

I wish the best for them, but I also understand their limitations given the wider context of the NBA. I think when you have a very young team, you tend to dote on them more and it lends itself to more of a fishbowl experience.

If you're playing with the rules of Shaq's era, he'd be fine. AD would be taken off of Shaq after a quarter or so.

Post-2001, with the rules against help defense and zones taken away, Shaq would have to try to play a bit more like Jokic. Now, you can't simply run the triangle to force all the help to come from the weakside, or at least from above the FT line.

I agree with others. When and if we play the clips in the playoffs (who are we kidding?, we will)... We want them hopefully in the conference finals. Get kawhi all banged up and limping around against the likes of the nuggets, rockets Mavs, etc. That's why I think there's value in pushing for a top seed. at the same time, don't risk injury doing it.

And Dwight's gonna have to pull out some performances from the past and really take it to them.

Randle is trash. We really talking about Randle here? He's a bum like Lonzo, and his efficiency has plumetted since he received that ridiculous contract from the Knicks.

Everytime I read one of your posts, I picture Gargamel from the smurfs. We're just living happily, singing in our mushroom huts and sharing blueberries. And then there's Gargamel sitting in his rocking chair, petting his cat, plotting how to burn the village down.

He's always been a guy more focused on his stats. He rarely makes the kind of winning plays that don't show in the statbox. I will say that Luke Walton seemed to get more out of him defensively as a switching big. This is why I was in favor of Luke benching him and making him earn his starting spot again. That is part of development. He was benched in favor of Nance, who does make winning plays that don't show in the stats. Obviously we all know Randle is the more talented player, but he is still raw when it comes to intangibles. Plus it's the Knicks man. They're toxic from the top down.

It's about letting an asset to for nothing. Don't think we could use an asset right now when we're pick-strapped and need a playmaker and a wing defender? He got 17 mil a year as an FA, which means he had value around the league. His stats playing an outsized roll on a crappy team doesn't change that.

Exactly.

His contract is guaranteed for the next year too.

And if he got traded or waived before then, 90% he will find a better situation than the knicks

He's being utilized as a number 1 option on a team with no spacing and no playmaking. It's a structure which emphasizes all his flaws and sets him up to fail

He's not the no. 1 option in NY.
Actually he's taking less shots than last year, despite playing more minutes.
