As we witness another Rondo/CP3 matchup tonight. Time for a throwback. We need some good Rondo feelings.

As a gentle reminder, the Rondo/CP3 beef goes back way before that.

If anyone is wondering why Rondo didn't finish the game well, he injured his hand likely on that CP3 foul

Rajon Rondo has a strained fourth finger on his right hand, per the Lakers. X-rays came back negative. He’s day-to-day.

His middle finger at CP3 remained intact.

I'm convinced that somewhere in the playoffs we're going to get vintage Rondo who wins a crucial game for us with clutch 4th quarter play.

And I have a soft spot for him because I was at the Garden last year when he hit the dagger at the buzzer to beat the hated green Celtics and their putrid fans.

(bleep)...same hand (different finger...3rd), needed surgery on last year too.

Dude must have scrapped with Cp3 again after the game

That’s what proven veteran players known for. They can sleep walk throughout the regular season and wake up when it matters. Once in awhile though in between, they get up on one of those regular season game. Tonight was one of them. He will probably go back to become disengaged in a next game or so and the usual Rondo bashing comes alive.

Lou is a lesser version of himself 1/2 the time when Kawhi and PG13 play. Alot of Eric Gordon’s best games last year were when Harden played less.
Toronto role players last season boosted their stats when Kawhi missed time.
Philly when Embiid misses time (for years now).
Coaches nowadays struggle to maintain consistent play out of top tier role players when stars play vs when they don’t.

Even on our team it isn’t Robdo specific.

We were spoiled watching what Phil did with Odom pre and post Pau trade.

Odom was the #2 guy (so not a role player) before Pau and was absurdly inconsistent once we got Paul

Odom's usage % right before Pau joined was low. It became Kobe ... and everybody else.
Do I have to show you Odom highlights and quotes from George Karl when we beat Melo in Denver in the playoffs?
Or his 6th man of the year award?

this is Playoff rondo, which is a real phenomena. it was against cp3 so I guess rondo decided to activate playoff mode just for tonight. dont expect this again until the postseason where I think we will get 1-2 of these games from him every series

We glimpsed playoff Rondo tonight

I think he read this thread and was like... "is that so?"

I also think the presence of CP3 gets him mad

True.
Hopefully he won't be out long.

Rondo got jokes:
"I knew it was going to be about another 54 extra shots, and Kuz was going to take 45 of those," Rondo, who scored a season-high 21 points to go with 12 rebounds and eight assists, deadpanned. "So I knew I was going to have at least nine more to get up and be a little aggressive."

Vogel said postgame that they have been encouraging Rondo to push the pace and play in transition. He says when Rondo does this they are tough to stop.

I agree. Less 24 second ball pounding, the more dynamic the Lakers become in the Rondo minutes.

Good sign that Rondo is being receptive.

yes he played well in this start but even a dying dog can still have his day every other blue moon. I really hope the Lakers FO doesnt let this game convince them that Rondo is a sufficient secondary playmaker for us

He was fine early in the year as well, it's why we blew some teams out earlier in the year. We do need another playmaker sure, but people who think Rondo's done is exaggerating the situation

Of course he was never gonna be great for us all year
