Maybe the best value contract in the league right now.

No reason to be bringing up the past right now when he's playing so amazing and been so great for the team's chemistry. I'm none of us would want people to <<randomly>> bring up mistakes in our distant past when we're doing well, just because. The past is the past. What matters the most is what he's doing now, and he's coming up huge for this ball club. #Facts

I say don’t rock the boat.

JaVale is getting starter salary.

DH is happy coming off the bench and destroying the other team.

Agreed.

Storybook year for Dwight. He’s still a (bleep) clown for what he did to us back in the day though. We were ready to go all in on this fool - thank god we didn’t. I’ll never forget the presser - “I was in Colorado today and this lady told me play for the Rockets! Everywhere I go I kept hearing Houston! It was just meant to be!”.

Move on dude....He's having a tremendous year and we wouldn't be where we are without him...He's redeemed himself and when he's in the game we become one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Dude said it was a storybook year, didn’t he?
The Dwight of 8 years ago will always be a clown.
Luckily, he matured and is doing great for us today

Yup, idgaf how big of a clown he was back then. He is playing for a minimum contract this year and absolutely balling out while being a great teammate. He's also happily doing whatever is best for the team.

Two guys I would have never seen myself being a fan of just a couple years ago are now two of my favorite players.. Dwight and Sherman on the Niners. Both made me do a full 180 and forget about the past haha

Yep, I said he was playing great for us today

Dude also said "He's still a clown." That's why I said move on...The guy has been awesome and not one negative thing can be said. Be part of the present and enjoy what this man is doing and forget about the past...no need to bring it up.

I’ve forgiven him and enjoy him now to a point that I forget how much of a (bleep) clown he is. Make sense? I’ll bring up the past if I want to. Why are you so offended?

I agree - and before this season I never thought a day would come where I said that about Dwight Howard.

Easily. He's been balling this year, and he has embraced his role on this team.

We seen JaVale get clearly upset and pout when Zubac was starting over him last season why even mess with that since him and Howard are clearly thriving and in great spirits with there current roles?

Some people don't realize how rare it is to have the chemistry this current team has. It's why we have the record we do and it's not closer to the Clippers record imo.

Well it’s official: Dwight is going to allstar

It should be a wild night with LaVine and Gordon also in the field of dunkers.

Dwight said he wants Kobe to help him. I hope his plan is not to pay back for the time he got dunked on

Since he loves the team, seemingly loves the city and we took a shot on him when nobody else would I don't think he'll ask much. He's already earned a ton of money too so I'm not sure that's as much of an incentive as some things. Probably another minimum. I can't see it being more than that.

I think thats the case if we win a title this year or not. If we do I think not only him but the whole squad is more likely to stay.

Make it happen Dwight!

Quote:
One of the most surprising comeback stories of the season will be a part of All-Star weekend next month after Howard finally acknowledged after two weeks of speculation that he not only will be in the dunk contest, he asked the league to be in it for the first time since 2009. And that’s not the only thing the 34-year-old is willing to ask for. “I’m trying to get Kobe,” he said. “So if I can get all the Laker fans to lobby to get Kobe to help me in the dunk contest, that’d be really good. That’d be awesome.”

Dude has a crazy expensive house, lots of baby mamas, and I heard has made some bad investments in the past. I think he'll go for the most money he can get from some team.

Maybe this is why...

New story: The NBA didn’t ask Dwight to be in the dunk contest, he asked them. And now he wants Lakers fans to ask Kobe to help him out in Chicago.

https://mobile.twitter.com/mcten/status/1220241223056752640

My understanding from that is, he needed the league to officially grant him an invite before he could commit to the dunk contest.

Well, he starting against them tonight.

Shams: Redemption year continues: Dwight Howard will make his first Los Angeles Lakers start of the season tonight in Brooklyn in place of JaVale McGee (sick), sources tell

But his future now has far more possibilities than it did a year ago. Howard signed a one-year deal with the Lakers that became guaranteed on January 10. He will be a free agent in July and the Lakers have no special advantages in re-signing him.

“I am very happy here,” Howard said of L.A. “I like being here, I am having fun being here. I don’t know what is going to happen in the future but I know I can’t think about that or focus on it. I am just focused on being here.”

Howard has earned a chance to stick with the Lakers, but the question would become, how much are the Lakers willing to pay out for him? Howard surely won’t be available for the veterans’ minimum next summer.

According to one NBA front-office executive, Howard has played well enough this season to early, “a good part,” of a team’s mid-level exception. The exception is expected to be worth $9.7 million and if Howard can command a deal at about $7 million, he would either chew up most of their limited cap space or take the bulk of the Lakers’ mid-level exception.
