WVU goes down in the Garden to St. Johns 70-68. Absolute garbage call at the end of the game to give St. Johns 2 free throws and the win....but WVU played like garbage all day. Refs definitely made it hard....the last call the kid just slipped and fell down....called a shooting foul on WVU with 5 seconds left. Overall, St. Johns went to the line 27 times compared to 12 for WVU.

#5 Michigan goes down again tonight @ Illinois. I am not sure Michigan is as good as they appeared that week in the Bahamas.

-- Without star Freshman Cole, #17 University of North Carolina goes down to Wofford of the Southern Conference!

-- A day before they likely moved up to #1 in the polls, #3 Ohio State loses to Minnesota for their first loss on the season.

The War Owls start off at #184. We have the big schools right where we want them. Or something like that.

The War Owls of William Marsh Rice University jump 20 spots up the NET rankings to 164th. At this pace, we should be in the top ten by the end of February.

I have been telling anyone that would listen this entire year.....this WVU roster was very underrated. This team can play with anyone in the country, and just went into Ohio and knocked off #2 Ohio State 67-59!!!

It sounds like being ranked #2 is a curse for Ohio State.

UNC starts season 8-6, and Coach Roy Williams claims his team is the "least gifted he has ever coached". This really bothers me, because UNC had the 9th ranked class in America last year. Sure, their top recruit Cole Anthony has missed many games, but the class still had another 5 Star and a couple 4 Stars, not including some solid transfers. I feel like he is saying for him to be successful, he needs more....

We claim coaches like Coach K, Roy Williams and Bill Self are coaching greats, but it seems more and more they have just long benefited from the shoe companies funneling elite talent to them which gives them an often insurmountable advantage. Duke is the Nike flagship school, Kansas is with Adidas, and UNC is the flagship Jordan school. If Coach K takes over Mississippi State Basketball tomorrow, does he go to another Final Four? Chris Beard took Texas Tech to the National Championship game without a 4 or 5 Star recruit on the roster....when is the last time Coach K, Williams or Self made a Final 4 without at least 3+ Five Star recruits on the roster?

There was a brawl to end the Kansas/KSU game and to think many thought Snoop going to Kansas and having his concert was going to be the most embarrassing thing that happened there...

Kansas indefinitely suspends Silvio De Sousa after he picked up chair in middle of brawl

Quote:
De Sousa picked up a chair in the middle of the brawl after it spilled into the floor seating area behind one of the baskets at Allen Fieldhouse. Someone got De Sousa to put the chair down before he used it as Kansas and Kansas State players fought amidst media and fans.

De Sousa helped instigate the fight by standing over Kansas State’s DaJuan Gordon after blocking a layup attempt of Gordon’s. De Sousa went for the block after Gordon stole the ball from him as Kansas was trying to dribble out the clock in the 81-60 blowout win.

There has been no discipline announced yet for other players’ roles in the fight. Kansas’ Marcus Garrett and David McCormick could face discipline along with Kansas State’s James Love and David Sloan and others who played a role in the mess. They could face punishment from their respective schools and/or the Big 12.

Kansas promised consequences from the fight after the game Tuesday night.

San Diego State ranked #4 ahead of Duke at #7. Very interested in how they do in the tournament considering they have historically underachieved even when had good years under Steve Fisher.
