The greatest appeal to me of any politician in the race is Warren as punisher.

She gave an interview to the NYT in which she supported abolishing the death penalty in part because life in prison was a worse punishment in her view. I disagree with that approach, but broadly her view towards punishing those who have (bleep) America and America's citizens resonates more with me than anything any politician I've heard from in my lifetime and I wish she would push that agenda more. Because Bernie seems like a forgiver out of sheer disinterest, Biden a forgiver out of misguided centrist-ness.

It feels oddly sometimes like the average Bernie supporter wants to hurt Hillary Clinton or Neera Tanden while my hope is to see John Yoo and Stephen Miller tried at the Hague. Will Bernie try Stephen Miller for crimes against humanity?

I hope you read the replies in that thread. A lot of people definitely do not see that endorsement as "nice" or a good thing -- at all.

Bernie’s trying to win a Primary. He’ll take any endorsement he gets. Nothing wrong with that..

But actually bragging about a Joe Roggin endorsement?

Yeah, that’s not a good look.

I wasted alot of time and links explaining the issue with Joe Rogan. After all that. All I needed were the replies to that tweet.

Warren supports reparations while Bernie remains ambivalent, fwiw.

That's too bad. He was one of the architects of the US's international torture program under Bush. You should look him up.

If only LG had a better search feature. We went through a whole debate about Joe Rogan written by people who’ve never listened to his show, and who have said with conviction that they will never listen to his show. Joe is a comedian/mma commentator who has a podcast where he decided to start inviting people on that he found interesting. It started with just comedians and then expanded from there.

For every link to a guest like Jordan Peterson, you could also find a link to a guest like Cornell West.

The long (usually 3 hour/no commercials) format of his show makes it pretty hard for any guest to hide who they really are and generally makes it easy for the listener to decide if the speaker is full of expletive or not.

But he’s not a gotcha reporter waiting to pounce on his guests. Rogan listens to what people he finds interesting have to say, questions them if he disagrees, and tries to find out why they are the way they are. I’d say his guests are split into quarters: A quarter of his guests are MMA people which I find boring. A quarter of his guests are scientists. A quarter of his guests are people who find themselves in the realm of politics (even if they aren’t politicians). And the final group are just random people with something interesting to talk about.

Two of the most interesting interviews I’ve heard recently were the Edward Snowden interview...truly worth a listen. The interview with the Navy pilot who captured the unidentified flying objects on video off the coast of California/Mexico while on a routine mission.

Ah, well based on that, and considering that I was part of the 75% that voted for Hillary, I’d say that John Yoo sounds like an evil guy. Hillary is not an evil person, far from it. To your question though, I don’t think any of our candidates are going to pursue any American for war crimes. There are just so many other fish to fry.

Nope. Our watch group was nervous as hell.

Found this gem, what’s your group outlook (media polling aside), Biden v Trump, Warren v Trump, Bernie v Trump?

Putting Joe Rogan's guests aside, there are clips of him personally saying racist and misogynistic and homophobic and transphobic things over and over again.

I haven't ever watched or listened to him, but I have seen the clips where he expressed personal opinions. If you call someone the N-word or the C-word or the F-word, it's not out of context. It is what it is. Unacceptable.

This was the beginning of (to me anyway) one of these new Republican unitary executive strategies to circumvent the rule of law, the constitution, or tradition, in that the president (and others) is off the hook, even when it is torture, if he relies on his AG for advice.
